My second experience at the car dealership

Post by minks »

Oh Boy I met the WORST car dealer guy last nite. Currently both my dad and I are in dire need of cars. (Dad had his wrote off last week but he is ok) So we go to the Hyundi dealership. And buddy comes out to meet us (preset up by dad) and starts asking dad what he needs, well dad wants high end Sonota so buddy takes him in she show room, proceeds to talk right over top of dad, refusing to hear anything my dad is trying to ask about. Tells dad not to touch the one there that is all locked up and marked sold. As well argues in front of dad and I about the door handles of the car with a fellow sales man. Ok so now I don't like him much. Not too professional. Suddenly does a 90 degree turn and says to me how urgent are you for a car maybe we should be looking for you first....why he cut off dad is beyond me. Ok so my chances are slim for much of a car, teeeeeny credit history, small income, and large payments so I know my limits and I vaguely tell him this. Immediately he slaps me down with this comment "Oh! Accent for you" And proceeds to tell me about 2005's refuses to understand my questions, then jumps back to dad, gets us out for a test drive, one trip back to the show room for a key, then back a second time for key of vehicle in the way. Then drives us round back...yep you got it for a plate. So off we go, he takes us down some obscure roads, pulls the 0-100 in -12 seconds routine, corners at friggin 100kph. (now I do not scare easily when in anyones vehicle, my motto is the driver did not get into this vehicle today to kill himself so I am not going to die either.) Blathers on about his cars, flies over train tracks, speeds down the roads then stops to let dad drive and proceeds to tell him where to go and how to drive. OMG my dad taught drivers training, lived in this city all his life, is this idiots elder and he treats him like a kid. Back to the shop we go. He fumbles and stutters about getting an Accent ready and I ask him straight up about the one he has all ready is this a 2006 yes he said. I just rolled my eyes and took the test drive with him. It was a standard, I am a bit rusty with it but capable and of course he points this out, tells me how and where. I am already pissed about this because it is the wrong year, and it is a box with nothing extra. I can get a nissan sentra for a few dollars more that is way less insulting to me. Ohhhh on our way back to the dealership dad was in the back seat pressed his cell phone to make a noise and faked a missed call so that the guy could not rope us into going back into the shop. My dad is art in action I loved it. We left there laughing about this idiots bumbling failing ways. Dad will be calling today to let the manager know this guy lost the 2 potential sales. Oh yeah he never even gave me a chance to look at an Elantra, it was not something he thought I could afford. I was highly insulted. What a jerk.

Certainly does sound like a grade A jerk to me. If was in your dad's or your shoes, I woulda given him a quick kick in the nuts. Well at least it would of put a smile on my face, and agony on his. :wah:

They seem to think they own the world from what ive seen of them.

Theyre too confident and single minded. They dont give a crap about what your getting, they want the commision from the sale.

Just do your research and you can walk over the salesman,

My mate got nearly £2k off a car for his brother and they wanted to only give him half what his car was valued at for trade in. So the salesman got shown up :). thats 1-0. Actually 3-0 with u and ur dad. :)

Cheers.
Thanks yeah Dad and I are looking at all kinds of cars, we have ideas in mind. We know pricing, we also have another guy we are waiting on who is going to see what he can do for us. The kicker is these guys can sell 2 cars at once if they treat me and dad right so the ought to be kissing our butts.

Why did you hang with him for so long?? Mind you, I'm the same way - or at least I have been. I think I could be quicker to walk next time, except that I only buy cars ever 8 or 10 years, so I don't get much practice.

HAH yeah mom asked the same thing when we got back to their house. I simply said I wanted to try out the cars, and try and glean so me info on them. We were not under any pressure to stay, he was pressured to impress us and just maybe we liked seeing him scramble and squirm ahahaha no I am kidding. It was simply a matter of wanting to try both cars out. Hey it gave me an idea of what I do NOT want hehehehehe

Theyre a seperate breed for sure. Even when your not buying a car they talk at you like a salesman. I think they have to stay hyped its probably a high pressure job but still.........

Minks, you will find a good car, just take your time. Let them waste theirs, and not high pressure you into anything! Taking you dad, who sounds like a pip, along is the best thing!

You can always stick us in the backseat for support....................

We never backseat drive..................:wah:

Minks, new car salesman, & especially "used" car salesman are not from this planet! :wah: Majority of them will try to sell you what "they" want to get rid of, not what "you" really want. Stick to your guns, don't let them intimidate or push you & your dad around. They need you, you don't need them, as you control the money for the sale. Good Luck, pick a WINNER of a car! :)
