traits passed down

As a kid I lost one grandfather at a very young age and the other lived an entire province away but we visited him often. This grandfather told stories and tales and re-counts of his life, and even as he aged and they were repeats I was always facinated with his pieces of information. He was my mothers dad. My mother has a similar trait and she is an incredible trivia buff and always when we travelled anywhere she had something to tell about the place or things along the way. Yet again I was facinated with her knowledge. As I get older I find I am forever telling people of my life experiences, or of facts I have read, learned, heard along the way (I can't wait to be a senior then I can chalk it up to old age). Well the other night I was sitting relaxing before bed and Minks Jr. was on the computer and she LOVES trivia, she started to rattle off reams and reams of it and made her comments and asked her questions and generally had a grand old time with me reciting some pretty cool factoids. It tickles me to see this trait has gone 5 generations.

Anyone else have any traits they know of that have gone on through the string of generations in their family??

My grandmother, whom every member of the family adored and feared, had this habit of giving a "look" if she was angry with you. Growing up I spent every summer on the farm with my grandparents, and when I got in trouble, all she had to do was look at me, with that left eyebrow raised and I would tremble in the presence of a formidable, and mortal threat. One look, even if your back was turned, could strike fear into the bravest man. You could feel that look, drilling into the back of your skull, nibbling away at your brain with little shrew teeth.........ANYway, my sister, whose ass I can kick at any time, has perfected that look, and chills me to my bones whenever she uses it. Which, thankfully, is mostly on her son. So, it skipped a generation, but she has it down pat. :yh_eyebro

Well, just let me sum this up quick for ya, so you understand how extra special this is to me.



-I do not know any living relatives of mine except my son.

-I was put in an orphanage.



-He has my hair at birth(all fell out and came in white like his daddys)

-my brown eyes

-my entire face

-my immune system(we both have adhd,gerds, and are allergic to codeine)

-both eat dry toast

-both dont use condiments on sandwiches(very rarely we will)

-both have the same sense of humor

-both love to read

-both are soft hearted(occasionally we have to work on that one)

-both LOVE JESUS

OMG - I now know where I got what my daughter calls my "Die, Bit*ch, Die" look. My Grandma who raised me had it. How funny I had not thought about that before. Thanks BR. My daughter and her husband are raising his 16 year old brother and sister and she called the other morning to tell me she too had perfected the "look".

Ahhh the almighty LOOK!!! My wife has "that" look & used it on our daughters until they were grown. She sometimes still gives them that look, but it has lost some of its fear, now that they are grown up. Our daughter has mastered and uses "that look" on her daughter, but it is not nearly as fearsome as her own mothers look. :rolleyes:

Oh Yeah..!! My mother has the look as well, we all know it and fear it to this day. My youngest niece has it as well.
