What is the worst X-mas gift you have ever received?

That might have been the year my parents couldn't decide what to get me - so they didn't bother getting me anything.
Or that might have been the year my parents couldn't decide what to get me - so they bought me a last minute yucky green jumper and purple skirt from the charity shop.
Or that might have been the year my parents couldn't decide what to get me - so they bought me a nylon nightdress, knowing that nylon irritates my skin.
Or that might have been the year my parents couldn't decide what to get me - so they bought my daughter a dress in fluorescent yellow, pink and orange tartan instead. It looked as if it was made from a disgusting old 70's tablecloth. The highlight of that particular occasion was when they told me to take off the 'rubbishy old outfit she was wearing' (which happened to be a beautiful Laura Ashley outfit) and put on this pretty (pretty ugly) dress instead.
I could carry on forever. It doesn't matter how much I go out of my way to please them or how much I spend to please them, it's never been good enough.
They moved abroad 5 years ago and they haven't seen me or my children or spoken to us since. But even though they don't seem to like us or want to know us, I still feel sad about it and miss them, especially at Christmas.
Why is that?
