Okay ..... NOT HAPPY JAN!!!!
Postal strike. I ordered a heap of things over the net for Christmas (presents essentially) Most from overseas . I check where they are, and they are in Australia. But they won't get to me before Christmas because of the postal strike. So many others are in the same boat as me. I'm not happy.

Okay ..... NOT HAPPY JAN!!!!
LAST-minute Christmas cards and parcels won't be delivered on time with postal workers set to walk off the job today.
Thousands of Australia Post workers have stopped work, and plan to take industrial action until Christmas eve.
Workers also plan to rally outside Australia Post's Sydney headquarters today, demanding better pay and conditions.
It is the second strike in a week for Australia Post workers, after 20,000 employees walked off the job last Wednesday, disrupting mail services nationwide.
The union representing postal workers wants a new workplace agreement that protects penalty shifts and pay, and improves workplace safety.
The Communications, Electrical, Plumbing Union (CEPU) says the industrial action is the last resort following years of failed negotiations.
"We expect that there will be delays in the delivery of mail; we certainly apologise for that," union president Ed Husic told ABC radio.
"Our move is not going to be popular with a lot of people but at the same time we are trying to represent mums and dads."
Australia Post says three quarters of the workforce won't strike and a contingency plan has been put in place.
"Really what we're trying to do is cover that 25 per cent (of staff that will strike)," company spokesman Alex Twomey told ABC radio.
"We've got ... Christmas casuals and we have beefed up those numbers."
dont get me wrong I understand their concerns ....but it's always around Christmas time.

Sorry you won't be getting your mail.
I also remember these strikes, you could back it in every Christmas.
Even got to the point you would be wondering why if there wasn't a strike:yh_rotfl

I understand them ...... this is how we got most of our pay increases and workers rights ................but it's just so frustrating. My ex BIL is a postie and I don't know how he survives on what he gets.

I understand the strike & know some of the wages are pretty poor.
We got mail today if that is any help,so some of the posties are trying.
A friend works as a postie & she said it was only those in the union that went out on strike
I hope you have a lovely day just the same.:-4

Oh, I'm so sorry that this is happening in Oz, Mags:(
It's always so unfortunate to have to strike, but it's worse when the unions pick a holiday time. Sadly that's the only time that makes a big impact. Everyone suffers:(
Hopefully, your packages will come shortly after the strike. It's a hardship for everyone.
Just an aside****Even though we're not having a strike here at our airlines....People are furious with the airline's unions and employees due to Saturday's snowstorm delays. People are at their wits end, angry and upset that they won't be home for their holidays. Imagine if it was a strike....
They'd never get home! I feel sorry for everyone.
