*Betty waves from the top of her frozen white hill*

I thought it would be nice to live at the top of a steep hill, well it is nice on some days, not so nice when the snow starts half way up the and the village below is snow free, as is the nearest town, it's bizarre for sure! :wah:

Shame! You could have sledged into the village otherwise.

Rap: Gather the Isle of Wight has a standing foot of snow! Must look amazing. :-6

Buttercup: -19 deg C???? Well, what is a Whisky Mac for? How deep is the snow where you are?

I can not believe some of the selfish acts that occur in this weather. I do not believe this country is primed for such conditions but the 'Me Generation' live on in their own selfish little worlds. From the woman who had to be rescued in Hazadous conditions to her rescue team by taking her dog for a walk up a mountain to the numourous brain dead morons who ignored all warnings and took children out in cars, only to complain that the army and police did not help them quick enough. Also the selfish moo who demanded to know on the phone tonight why her pizza was going to take longer to be delivered.

We have had extreme weather warnings all week on TV and radio that could not be missed yet people were putting their children into cars for Unnessessary trips with no extra provisions or clothing. Then, It's not their fault that they are stuck in a ten mile tail back... Oh no... It's all the fault of the police and army who haven't done enough. It's conditions like this that show the true selfish nature of some people in this country.

Apparently, Sunday, we are going to see another heavy snow fall. I really must take my dogs up a mountain in my fip flops and have the RAF rescue me... After all, that's the British thing to do :rolleyes:

Well, an idiot will be an idiot wherever he or she is.

But at the same time, I'm glad there are folk out there taking advantage of the conditions. And that means potentially fatal risk, as the two climbers caught in a Scottish avalanche knew. They were experienced, and they took a risk. Mountains are always a risk, are not good at forgiving, and mountains in winter are much worse.

But for us all to wrap up in cotton wool and never take any risk would in my opinion be dreadful. And that means people will push a bit too hard.

Good folk, the Mountain Rescue. And the RNLI. And St Johns. Volunteers all.

And the communities that have pulled together to help their old folk, and the anonymous guy who rescued a bloke who'd gone through the ice on a pond - at the risk of his own life. (Three others died)

Sure, it brings out the worst in people, but it also brings out the best.

We always get a heads up on snow...they plow the streets & salt them, but still we had no school delay this morning which was odd as the streets were very icy...I slid through an intersection & I've got an suv! Creeping down the streets made us late for school but all in all, totally agree with you Oscar...if you don't need to go out, then don't and if you have older children have them watch the younger ones...like I do:wah:..or just don't go out period unless its essential like for ciggarettes:sneaky:

Luckily not been required so far. The council managed to throw some grit out of the back of a lorry along our streets this morning. So I nipped out quick to the local supermarket and re-stocked before we get another load of snow tomorrow. :)

All our local shops are now right out of cat litter also. If any-one gets desperate then try Indian or Asian Cash and Carrys for salt.

We had a tiny bit of sun today which added to the problems. It melted a little and then formed as sheet Ice again tonight when the temperature dropped.
