A strange question
Is it possible to see whether an email, sent from a hotmail account, originated in the UK or the USA?
Does the time on the email indicate the time it was sent or the time it arrived?
Could one assume that an email that arrives at, say, 5am, was sent at, say, 12 midnight, from the US? (I'm not interested in differing time zones, I know that would be NY)
Is there any way to TELL?
Thanks.

It is 8 hours difference from UK to us here in the west, add another hour for westcoast (Koan) East Coast is 6 hours difference. I believe you can contact your ISP perhaps.

Try this link and see if it helps you: How do I find out who owns a Hotmail account?

Thanks Minks
I only really need the time difference from Fort Lauderdale to the UK. :-6
I did think of the ISP but is it an easy thing to check or not?
Is there any other way to tell?
Thanks Minks

wouldn't this only be as accurate as the data the email owner puts in. I do not have my full name on my email. I suspect you would find location easily.

The time it was sent.
There is a 5 hour time difference between Fort Lauderdale and the UK. If it's 1pm in Fort Lauderdale, it would be 6pm in the UK.

In your mail reader (whatever that is), view the full headers of the email you got from the hotmail account.
Hotmail include a line among all that unreadable stuff which looks like:
X-Originating-IP: [aa.bbb.ccc.ddd]
Take whatever it says instead of aa.bbb.ccc.ddd and enter it on IP2Location.com - Lookup IP address to Country, State, City, Netblock, Longitude and Latitude
That will tell you the location of the sender. Unless they've been very careful and used a web proxy to post through.
If you don't know how to view the full headers, tell us what email system you're using and we'll look it up.

Yahoo has the information on a different line, that's all.
Received-SPF: neutral (google.com: aa.bbb.ccc.ddd is neither permitted nor denied by domain of [name@example.tld]) client-ip=aa.bbb.ccc.ddd
ETA: actually, my mistake, that's the Yahoo web email server, not the client. It's a horribly misleading line.
If you paste all the header block into this Email Header Analyser it will give you a very useful analysis and let you look up which ISP hosts the sender quite easily. Try that instead and see how you get on.
