Missing Mom and Gram

Post by Rapunzel »

Hey tmbsgrl,

why not pledge to send your gram something once a week/ fortnight or month in the post? Just a pretty card or a postcard or a photo or something that you have enjoyed? You could pick a pretty flower from your garden, wrap the end in damp tissue and send a note saying 'This made me happy...and I thought of you'

You could send a photo of your new house or the neighbours cat or send one fancy chocolate from a posh chocolate shop. You could send her a drawing your daughter has done or a little poem you have written. It doesn't have to be big or expensive, but if you could send her a weekly (or whatever) NOTE OR LITTLE GIFTIE IT WOULD STRENGTHEN YOUR BOND WITH EACH OTHER AND GIVE HER SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO EACH WEEK.

Oops Sorry! Hit the CapsLock in error and didn't notice! :-4

Just a thought but hope it helps. All best wishes to you hunny. :-6

How computer literate are they? Webcams are wondrous things, it's almost like you're there in the room together. Or you can send just regular video messages through the mail.

I have a webcam.. I know my mom couldn't work it if I bought her one. I do talk to them all the time but talking is not the same as being able to give a hug or a kiss. You know what I am saying. Tim's mom is back in Illinois too but she comes here for 6 months every year. So he sees her a lot. He has not seen his grandma either. I guess I am just getting a little homesick or something. I was up all night crying thinking about my gram passing away before I can give her and hug and kiss. That lady means the world to me. I love her so much.. I have so much respect for her.

You are brave to have ventured so far away, I would be a mess, my parents live 3 k from me and I am old ahahahahah

Does your gram have a recorder? When we moved to Pa from Ohio, I left my whole family behind to start our life here. Even though family would come and visit during the summer, winter's were long waiting for the next visit. My father decided to tape record everyone talking...like a talking e-mail. It was great to receive those tapes and play them over and over again. Since my father passed away 5 years ago, I treasure those tapes and am still able to hear his voice!

Girl, get a great cell phone with those free long distance calls on them. I call my mother and grandmother 1-3 times a week. Yes, I still have a granny, who is 95 and still lives on her own and loving life! You can talk to them while you take your run/walk, so exercise is even more fun!

I understand, I miss my mother and granny too-would give anything to be with them during the bad times right now. By the time the kids get out of college, it would be miraculous for my grandmother to be alive. But she is counting the years, and the months, everytime I talk to her.
