This may turn out to be an interesting subject! Who has the stronger will, Men or Women? And mention something that can prove it! :-5

Hmmm....good question indeed. I'm going to say that it *depends on the man or woman.

If it has to do with pain, I think women win out over men as a generalization.

I am hereditarily stubborn and strong-willed. When I buy candy bars in

the weeks before Halloween, I have to hide them. My husband would eat

them all. I can have 1 or 2 here or there.

But I guess that's willpower which may be different. I think it depends on

the individuals involved. If I had to generalize, I would say men are more

often stonger willed because of the high numbers of women who still

defer to their men. I don't mean to cause a ruckus and I can't give any

statistics from anywhere, just a general feeling I get.

I fully believe that if I had been on the Scott Peterson jury, I would have

hung it. Based solely on what I have heard and seen in the media, of

course, not actually having been there. I would have no problem with

11 other people thinking opposite of myself!! So strong will? YUP!!

I think the strength of will depends on how bady one wants something. So a woman may have strong will in some areas and not in others. Same with men. I agree with Tombstone. I think it has less to do with gender.

With the candy bars, whos will is greater? Yours to not have the candy or your husbands to have it?

Mine not to have it... but I don't have the sugar addiction he does. I agree

that it could depend on how badly one wants something. I can't think of

anything food-related that he could win out over me, though. I can even

fast for several days in a row and it doesn't phase me.

But in areas of the relationship otherwise, I think it works out great. He

doesn't impose anything on me like "clean up this mess" or anything, and

having had almost 14 years of that previously, I like this way soooo much

better!

i generally don't like stereotypes, but speaking only for myself as a woman...my will is steel. i cannot, will not, never ever let anyone get over on me, it may be a work thing, but i was like that all my life. i am going to WIN, there is NO other option. (that does not mean i am never wrong and cannot apologize.)

I don't think will is a man/woman issue. It depends on the individual. I prefer to think of myself as strong willed instead of stubborn.

I think it depends on the particular situation as to whether women or men have greater will power. Both can have difficulty quitting smoking, giving up alcohol or over eating. My wife and I are pretty equal with will power, however when it comes to ice cream or chocolate chip cookies I have little or no will power. If it's available, I'll eat it, and it won't last long.

I know strong willed MEN and WOMEN. It is the person themselves that creates the will.

I do think women have a bit of an edge on MEN, just for the simple fact we have so much to do with babies, family, work, school, sports and life. We are usually the backbone of our families and have to stay strong and focused daily to achieve anything.

But Men can be as strong willed as women, and many are. So yes I'm on the fence..

Me I'm strong willed period, have been divorced since 1972 so I have no choice but to be focused and determined in my actions. Plus I'm stubborn and mean as hell.:sneaky:

I have the strongest "Will-power" in the world, bar none! :-2

I will have that piece of cake, I will have that piece of chocolate, I will have that Hot Fudge Icecream Sunday.

What I don't have is "wont' power", I won't have that piece of cake, I won't have that piece of chocolate, I won't have that Hot Fudge Icecream Sunday!

Women have the stonger will, i think they have put up with so more in general like having babys looking after they're family and coping with all the rest of that in the home. I think we can endure a lot more physcialy.

Setting: There is a Man & a Woman sitting across from each at a table, and told not to eat & or drink anything.

Now if there was a 1 pound box of dark-smooth-creamy chocolate put in the middle of the table, right next to a six-pack of Henikins. It's a hot night, & been 8 hours since their last meal. WHO IS GOING TO GIVE IN FIRST?
