Tonight, I felt really bad because my friend Is on a sking holiday and I knew they would be short anyway.

During my time In Sales, I would drag myself in to work off my death bed because I was so worried about losing my target and bonus.

Even though I am not a sicky person, I feel Incredibly guilty doing It and the thought does occur to me, 'Do they believe me'?

First, I hope you and Oscar both feel better soon. I wish there were more people like you who would call in sick and not come to work and make others ill. If anything, I would feel more guilty knowing I was sick and spreading my germs all over the office.

Hope you feel better soon, Guppy. But your workplace's loss is our gain. It's great to see you.

I think women have guilt programmed into their genes. That plus conditioning. If you went to work sick, you'd feel guilty about spreading the good cheer, if you stay at home you'll feel guilty about letting the side down.

As resident goddess, I hereby absolve you of all guilt, so relax and enjoy the cyber chicken soup attached to this post.

Well that is so brilliant! You are expected to turn in for work even if you've got spreadable germs? Priceless..................... spread it around already hospitalized patients...........................I suppose it would help cut down the lack of available beds, though. Also it would improve business for the funeral directors in the area.

It's a wonder they don't get their bullwhips down to administer to any ailing staff ! :-5

everyone is expected to show up for work, ill or not.

yet they tell you, you should have stayed at home.:-5:rolleyes::rolleyes:

and then there are ones who call in sick on a regular basis and that's okay.:sneaky::mad:

It's the ones who call in sick on Monday mornings that are a bit 'iffy', you can bet that 8 out of 10 of those are just getting over a hangover after their weekend activities ! :-5

Thanks Guppy and good to see you back.

Apparently, last night, one of the drivers flew out to Sweden, so they were doubly short and I felt sooooooooooooo bad !!!. Late last night, my friend who owns the shop rang me to ask how I was and then added that If I could drag myself In tonight, he'd really appreciate It as last night was one of the busiest nights they had ever had which just made me feel worse.

My husband told me to not put any make-up on so he could see how really ill I did look but that may frighten small children in the shop.

One company I worked for for 12 years employed a huge amount of teenagers to do tele-sales in the evenings and weekends. Out of the blue, the company changed the pay day from a friday to a monday.... Hilarious !!!! For the reasons that you gave Gill. I remember when I used to Interview them for the job and then tell them pay day was a Monday and they would have to work three weeks in advance. :yh_rotfl

exactly why I am here at work today, I am on day 2 of a migrane but figured it would look kinda bad to call in sick today. Argh I wish I had stayed home....

I only call in sick if I am real sick. I tend to get sickness that doesn't spread, UTI's, Ecoli, Migranes ya fun stuff.

Well, being sick and being a teacher is kind of a "Best of times, Worst of times" event. On the good side, you just call in, and a substitute teacher rushes right in and does your job for you! The down side is that you will definitely have to pick up the pieces the next day. Also, you only get 7 sick days a year, and the kids are a bacteriological battlefield. They constantly stick their hands in their mouths, and their hands have been all kinds of gross places, so they are sick all the time.

I had three kids walk right up to me this week and sneeze or cough in my face. When I ask, "Are you sick?" they laugh and say, "Oh, umm...yeah!" Well, thanks for sharing your illness with me. duh.
