Unfortunately, Odie, the police have just 'filed' our report, as they do nowadays for criminal damage incidents, they just haven't got the manpower to devote to detection. However, as we have suggested to them that we feel we are a target, they have left our case 'open' and are sending an officer round in the next couple of days to get as much info from us as we can give them. We will point a finger to who we think it could be, and why, but as it may involve trying to trace an address, it would not surprise me to hear them say that they are unable to trace this person. (because they can't afford the time to check it out!). If this should happen, I would say to them bollocks, are they going to wait until the car is fired, or we have attacks on our house windows next? The police are supposed to prevent crime, but they have become just an answering service - if you are lucky! It is such a common occurence now, all this criminal damage, that the offence has been de-criminalised, like car theft has been. Even assaults on police officers are not treated as major offences any more, unless of course the poor police officer is critically wounded, or killed! Car theft is 'joy riding' and has been for some years, regardless of the terrible affect that stealing a car, from somebody who's life needs that transport, has on the victim! Therefore any punishment meted out is derisory these days, and that is if the buggers are even caught! This, of course, is why such crimes are constantly increasing - there is no deterrent !

So, even though a police officer may have heaps of info, I am not holding my breath. We are also expecting other incidents of damage to us. However, we will try to minimise the possibility, by 'hiding' our car along a road near us which is not an accepted 'through road' from the pub to a housing estate which our own road is. We will also go out quite frequently with our German Shepherd dog, to check things - particularly on Friday and Saturday nights. We will go armed with 'night sticks', torches, and my digital camera.

I expect the police will instruct patrol cars to mooch around our area for a few weeks, but I doubt that it will be a permanent arrangement, as they haven't got the man-power to make it so. There has only got to be one report of an incident in our district and the patrol car will have to attend that, leaving no cover immediately around us! We were told some time ago, that on a Friday and Saturday night there were only two patrol cars to deal with over 100 square miles of suburb and outlying villages, and sometimes only one car! Brilliant !

All this makes people feel so safe in their homes doesn't it?

One of my favourites - Diana Ross (written by Beegees, who also do vocal backing, take no notice of the backing singers in this clip. It is the Beegees who do the actual singing !). I used to have this playing at full chat as we went up river from our moorings to start our charters (before we picked up any passengers :wah:). It was hilarious to see people jigging up and down, as they walked alongside the river, to the strains of this track !

This is another Beegees track that I played on the way up-river from our mooring, to collect our passengers from our jetty............... (Played LOUD :wah:)

This was a favourite of mine. I played it in the dry dock when we were busy painting etc. our charter/trip boat, during the winter months. People walking by would stop and listen to it, it sounded really good because there was a slight echo in that large covered dry dock, and one or two asked us what the track was! It was only in the charts at that time! :wah:

Hi Helen, The first time I saw the Fork Handles sketch was over at my mum and dad's house, and we were all laughing so much there were tears rolling down our faces. Dad particularly really enjoyed the Two Ronnies show, he loved the 'play on words' sketches and we all thought that Ronnie Barker's talent at writing new words to existing songs was really very clever and hilarious.

We also roared with laughter at the breakfast sketch by Morecombe and Wise, very slick !

Hi Jazzy and Odie, no trouble with our car as yet ! It happened 2 Saturday nights running, so tonight's the night! Police will be sending a 'stealth' car round to mooch for a while around midnight. We haven't got the car outside our house at night, we've parked it along a small residential road opposite our house, and up the far end out of sight. Casual passers by don't normally go along that road as it is not a through road to the 'estate', only that road's residents go along it. If it does get attacked again tonight, then that is an absolute definite that somebody is targetting us, to go to the trouble of seeking our car out. It cannot be seen from anywhere near our house. I'm hoping they won't throw a brick through our house window when they can't see our car ! Of course that too will be a definite that we are being targetted!

Chris is going out at around midnight, to check things are OK. He will have his mobile phone with him. But he won't let me go with him, he says he can run faster than me :wah: well he's right there ! Until a few years ago, he was a marathon runner ! Also he knows a few sneaky, nasty tricks should he come across any pratts trying to damage our car again - and he'll be sober, while they could well be drunk and all over the place !

However, I'm not really expecting any problems, considering where we have parked the car now.:yh_nailbi

Hi Kathy and Odie, Well as Chris wouldn't let me go with him, armed with me camera, I wouldn't let him go by himself ! I said that if Andy was here he wouldn't let his dad go out there at midnight by himself, on any night let alone a Saturday night! I also said, we can replace a car but not my lovely hubby! So he didn't go out. I'm relieved about that, not just because of the obvious risk factor, but also that it was bloody freezing raw out there last night! No point in him getting ill !

We haven't checked the car yet, but I expect Chris will saunter up there in a little while. He's having a shower at the moment, and I'm watching the Australian Open Tennis Final between Federer and our boy Andy Murray. Come on Murray !!!! It would be so good for morale back here in the UK if our boy won the 'Open' - it would be his first ! And a Brit hasn't won for over 70 years !

Well Chris collected the car and it was fine. Nothing untoward happened last night, which is good news. :guitarist However, at the lock-up garages just across the road from our house, there has been some guttering ripped off and put in our neighbour's front garden ! :( Fortunately our lock-up garage was left alone. But we wondered if the pillocks, not seeing our car around there, decided to do some other damage ! Makes you wonder what planet these pratts think they're on! Hmmmm they obviously don't think ! :-5:-5:-5

Well the sun is shining, but it is bitterly cold. We will be going to see my nephew's first baby (a girl) this afternoon. I'm a Great Auntie yet again! Lilly-Mae was born around 2 am on Saturday morning, and they came back home on Saturday late afternoon ! Gawd, it was different when I had my son, I was in hospital for 10 days, and both mum and baby were fine! Times change !

Thanks Jazzy and Helen, yes she is gorgeous, but she is noisy! Hence the lack of sleep for her mum! Apparently she's OK whilst she is being held and cuddled, but when she is put into her crib, all hell breaks loose. So I told them that Lily-Mae has just left a wonderfully cosy and dark place and is now in a totally alien, strange environment. She will create for a while, till she gets used to it, and all she will want is the comfort and security of that wonderful warm, dark cosy place. I think they will not be getting a lot of sleep for a few more nights yet. :) Still, Richard is on paternity leave for a few weeks, so he should be a help. Mum's parents live just up the road, and we are only a couple of roads away, so they'll be OK. Richard's parents live in Skye, but are coming down to the area at the end of this week for a couple of weeks. Yes my sister is going to have her nose pushed out of joint, with me seeing her grand daughter before she has ! :wah:

awwwwwwwww I just saw her now, how sweet!

she may need a lot of extra burping, Steve did as he had problems digesting, as soon as I put him down he would literally scream in pain, so we have to give him gripe water.

Morning all ! It's a lovely sunny day here, today. Rather raw though, temperature wise. We have to take our dog to the vet this afternoon, to have his regular cartrophen injection - for arthritis. Bless him, it does seem to help him, although he is not very twingey, that's probably down to the injection. He's a large alpha male German Shepherd and he is 13 yrs and 3 months old, so I don't think he is doing too badly for a big dog! He eats well, sleeps quite a lot, but he loves going for his walks.

He wears a harness for when we take him his walks. He does not wear a collar - saves any discomfort he may have around his neck. Yes he is a very content old boy! When we first got him, 5 years ago, he was a very pulling kind of dog when he was on walks, and not very sociable with some others he may meet whilst out. For the last year or so, he has become an absolute gentleman when he's out, and just wants to say 'hello' to other dogs, and he wags his tail a lot. Of course, he has his favourite doggy friends, one being a brown cocker spaniel, and they greet each other like long lost brothers! The cocker spaniel's owner thinks our 'Rex' is wonderful, and so gentle. Apparently, the cocker spaniel used to be terrified of bigger dogs, but since he has met Rex, he has become quite 'laid back' about them, approaching them with a wag of his un-docked tail. It is so nice to see dogs with the proper length tails now. After all their tail is their smile innit?

:-6 :D

God bless him Gill! My two Miniature Pinschers (one weighs 5lbs & the other 7lbs) try to intimidate big dogs like Rex. They puff out their chests and stand their ground until the big dog moves. Once the big dog moves, they hide behind me or ask for me to pick them up :wah: The whole time, their little "buppy tails" (their tails are cropped) are wagging a mile a minute. Yes, I agree, their tail (or lack of) are their smile. :-4

I've heard German Sheppard's are prone to arthritis, we have one here who gets walked very slowly, at his pace not the owners, which is really nice to see!:-4

a harness is the better way to go for him than a collar.

nice to see them all get along.

Good morning all ! The weather here is cloudy and there is a breeze, but at least it's dry at the moment. Not as cold as it has been, which is good.

I cleaned my laptop yesterday, and today I will try to get it to my tame guru who, hopefully, will be able to clean out all the muck. It keeps over-heating and the safety cut out kicks in and switches the laptop off. A bit inconvenient if you are in the middle of something and you haven't saved it ! The fan must be a bit cloggo, it's happened before and the guys at Tech Guys cleaned it for me, I think they use some sort of mini blower (there must have been quite a mushroom cloud from my laptop then ! LOL). Any way Tech Guys are now part of PC World, and that shop is the other side of town from where I live, so I will try my local I.T. guru. I took a desk top PC into them a while ago, with a problem. They fixed it in no time, I've forgotten now what the problem had been, they wouldn't take any money, so long as I brought them a packet of biscuits and some tea bags ! :yh_rotfl Which I did, of course :yh_rotfl. This is what you call service ! I've since bought a PC and a monitor, some extension speakers for the PC, and some other bits and pieces. So it pays to be nice to potential customers dunnit? Cos they come back and buy stuff ! :D

hi guys,

i typed out quite a long post last night when i came back from darts................... wallace decided to jump on my lap !!!!! and pulled the cable out and i lost it all............. :-5:-5

things here are much the same as usual, no earth shattering events to tell you about.

the cold weather is gone only to be replaced by rain and wind so back to normal:rolleyes:

work is very slow at the moment so im now " spring cleaning " the shop which involves moving freezers etc to clean behind them, washing walls and ceilings etc. it makes the time go a whole lot faster :sneaky:

getting an appointment at the doctors tomorrow, not been feeling too hot just lately. think its a bit of stress along with my thyroid problem playing up again. i can up my own medication if i want but i think what theyve given me is a bit too strong, it causes heart palpitations, makes me feel a bit light headed and dizzy. so i suppose i will have my arm emptied of any blood that mite be in there lol

going to treat myself to an earlier nite tonite, though having said that, ive just noticed its nearly 11pm already !!!

anyway, i hope everyone is ok xx

she keeps telling Mike what he can and can't do, one of which he is not allowed to come to see me anymore...well, 3 of the 4 cats are his....so he has to help me cut their nails and bring me cat food and litter, and that's between him and I......not her.

I have never spoken to her.....she changes her mind every two days about everything, he can barely handle her, looks good on him.;)

oh god odie, i remember those days well, except it was an ex partner not present girlfriend !!!

they had children and i was fully aware of his responsabilty towards them, in fact it was me who remembered hospital appointments, school meetings etc so that he attended them.

not long after that, it became shopping trips, gardening, shifting furniture, mending the washing machine !!!!!!!

when i started to object, it then turned into "accidents and ficticious hospital emergencys" getting so bad that i made him phone the emergency department to check if this was true before he rushed off in the early hours to sort it out !!!!

my elderly mother fell over and broke both her arms and we had to drive 200 miles to bring her back to our house, the ex phoned him while we were sorting out my mums belongings, screaming down the phone that one of the kids had a splinter in his finger and he should be there attending to it, not acting as a taxi for me so thats when i totally lost it, as my mum could hear every word she said !!

needless to say, it stopped for some time after that....................

but the final straw was when he died suddenly from a magor heart attack and she invited a guy to his funeral who she swore i was having an affair with and she spent the whole day watching me to see if i had any contact with him so she could proove a point !!!!

needless to say we are no longer on speaking terms !!!!!!!

Morning all ! Eeee I'm glad I haven't had such 'goings on' in my life ! Seems I'm one of the lucky ones :)

Hope everybody's OK, and that nobody's snowed in, flooded out, parched dry, blown inside out ! Weather here is cloudy, it has been raining, but the sun is trying to force it's way through the cloud and the temp. is not too bad !

Next door have had a major refit to their bathroom, sitting room and kitchen ! I think the hammer drills are finished with now, and there isn't any more comings and goings by workmen. Herself has moved a load of 'surplus to requirement' stuff out onto the front lawn, and the lot has been carted off to the tip, I'm pleased to say, because it was beginning to look a bit like our local tip with all the junk piled up. We have a shared front path to our front doors, so her front garden is one side of the path and ours is the other (of course  ), but to a casual passer-by, the junk could just as easily have been ours !

Our neighbour's house (semi-det with ours) is owned by a housing association, so all this refurbishing is being paid for by the housing association. I haven't seen what has been done, but my hubby saw the kitchen through their open back door, the other day as he walked by, and he said that it had been made really marvellous inside with new fitments, tiling, painting, sink unit, work surfaces, wall units, base units. Very posh ! Lucky buggers! I expect the bathroom is just as posh :wah: The house has been completely re-wired as well!

It's alright for some innit ! I did have a feeling a while ago that the neighbour was planning on leaving, but I suspect she will be staying, for the forseable future

now ! :yh_rotfl I'm just so relieved that all the banging, drilling, sawing has stopped, and there is a certain peace hovering over us - till their dog starts barking cos they're all out all day and it's bored and lonely. The dog 'Lotty' is a gorgeous black labrador, and very friendly, and adores our big 'Rex'. Sorry Lotty but Rex, although interested, won't be able to give you any mini Lotties ! He lost a bit of weight when he was in the Animal Shelter before we adopted him - he had 'chops' and 'chips' there. (yes he has a chip ID in him). Poor Rex, the spirit is willing me old mate, bless him, but the end product - well forget it :yh_rotfl

This is Rex, the other day, waiting for his Cartrophen injection, for arthritis. It's proving very helpful for him. Expensive for us, but he's well worth it! :-4
