Geeze Hoppy sorry about your experiences. I will share mine with you,
I got a job, my boss was a woman who was an amazing boss, she was the presidents right hand person in operations she wore many hats and did every aspect of her job to perfection. Slowly over time she became a good friend of mine, then one day informed me she was gay. She was quick to assure me she had NO interest in me or any woman who was not of her "preference". We have worked together for quite a few years and remain very good friends. Never has she made me feel like she looks at me as a potential partner. She remains my very good friend and we still work together at a different company at different capacities.
In every demographic there are good and bad. Like Nomad said we can make choices.
Hoppy if I carried anger around as a trophy like you did I would be dead long long ago because of incidents where people of my "preference" played "hands on" with me.
First, I don't hate all gays. I immensly disliked the gays I had to work with or be around because most were the loud, obnoxious "in your face" types. I don't like that in anyone.
Second. I have no hate nor anger toward gays who respect me enough to leave me quite alone. I'll happily return that favor. Why is that so hard to understand?

well from what I read it looked like you lumped them all into one basket.

Well, you may actually have a point there. I've worked with lots of gays and lesbian students and they always seem to have a lot of drama. (The lesbian girl gang I have this year just got done beating each other up and they all have black eyes right now.):-2
Is that because gay people are inherently unstable? Or because of the pressure they take from society? I honestly don't know.

I have read what every one has written on the subject. it seems most have stated what they feel . i feel like i am back in the early 60's . or at a clan meeting. Are we still so backwards?? God created ALL OF US. Not some of us. We all are DIFFERENT. That was God's plan. He did not make JUNK. So none of us should be treated that way. I understand how a lot of us were raised. Different is WEIRD or WRONG. I was raised that way. My father was a lot like ARCHIE BUNKER. It took me MANY years to discover he was DEAD WRONG.

From a religious standpoint, everyone is equal in God's eyes, or if you like: "God is no respecter of persons."
From an evolutionary viewpoint, there are no defects, only mutations and adaptations.
From a humanistic view: 'you're okay, I'm okay."
From an atheistic view: it's proof there is no God.
What's left? To think that there are defects or disorders in others is arrogance of the strongest degree. okay sorry i my have gone and said too much... I'm human... and a conservative and a Christian... oh AND i'm in texas... I forget that i shouldn't be pushing my opinions on people... but i don't think it matters either way if you're gay or not gay in the military... i mean leave your personal life at home... just like why would it matter for me to know or not know you're married... who really cares just get the freaking job done!

Thank you for the respect you've shown. You didn't say too much.

Definition: Birth defect - is a widely-used term for a congenital malformation, i.e. a congenital, physical anomaly which is recognizable at birth, and which is significant enough to be considered a problem. According to the CDC most birth defects are believed to be caused by a complex mix of factors including genetics, environment, and behaviors, though many birth defects have no known cause.

I bet there's a queue of serving officers at TV studios right now about to come out and discuss their past problems.

Have any of the Republican candidates been asked whether the repeal will be protected, in the event of their winning the Presidency? There's still some way to go to bring equality to the system but I'd have thought there was no possible way back to Don't Ask Don't Tell at this stage.
