Have you ever been to Mardi Gras?? New Orleans is not the only place. :driving:a smaller town is the place to really enjoy. a lot more safer. plus a lot more family-friendly. i, in my younger years (wild days) have gone to New Orleans during Madri Gras. And it is much more fun in a smaller town to people watch. Which to me is the best part. Still CRAZY. But more safe.:-6 HAVE FUN

Patsy it is WILD the crowds are like a river. if you do not want to go with the current. you are in TROUBLE. you might as well. also for a parade. the crowds along the side of the road can be 10 to 15 people thick. or more. it makes it a real challange to catch beeds. that is when you have to become creative:sneaky:

Hi Southern Yankee:-6

It's good to see you back in FG. Hope all is good with you.

I had 2 opportunities to travel to New Orleans and both trips fell through.

My friend and I had planned to spend 5 days around New Orleans staying at the.....Oak Alley Plantation...Unfortunately, my friend.....grrrrrrr....had to cancel our trip......

Another time a different friend and I were thinking about taking a river cruise down the Mississippi River to New Orleans and spending a week there. Unfortunately "Katrina" happened to the poor people who lived in NO.

So no luck in visiting your beautiful State SY ~~~~someday~~~~

It's gonna be a good one this year after the Superbowl !!! I love New Orleans - and have managed to get out on the swamps, to Algiers, to the Garden quarter, to Oak Alley, to Metairie etc. Magic. Had my first absinthe there, and beignets and cafe au lait at the Cafe du Monde. Laissez les bon temps rouler.. once again.

Last year I watched the parade in Alexandria. Caught LOTS of beads and wore some on Sunday for the Superbowl party. And Friday before Mardi Gras we were in Natchez and watched their parade. I've got beads from a previous parade in New Orleans. This year I'll go to our own little parade in Sunny California.
