Someone sent me that email. I understood it to be the only Auschwitz album left. I've seen lots of photos from other camps etc. It sickens me.

After visiting the holicaust museum in Washington many years ago (and I urge all to go visit it) I believe it sickens us all. but it's the disbelief of the ease in which somthing like that can happen. And it's happened many times since.
I was extremely lucky to be sitting on a bench just inside the entrance when a man sat down next to me and told me to wipe my tears away. I won't go into our conversation because that conversation is very special to me. He was a survivor.
I wasn't upset at what I 'saw' in that museum (although the elevator was a bit morose and I couldn't get out of there quick enough) it was How? and Why?
That left me upset.
I did a lot of research after I came home . The first modern consentration camp was invented by our own forefathers ...The Brits in the Boer war. And it's happened many times since. Now we see Israel erecting a WALL and ghettoing palistinians. HOw? Because WE allow it to happen. If we all see people as just a homosexual or just an Arab or just a chechnian or just another problem on our TV news screens it will always happen ..........Forever . It's very very easy for holicausts to happen. It's happening right now in different parts of the world.
It's as simple as that . We are sickened through/ and because of our own lack of remorse and complacency. The people who run consentration camps or send people to their deaths everywhere in the world are just normal everyday people like you and me. They are not especially evil or devils . Every single one of us is capable of doing this.... Just takes a tired worn out populace, a bit of propaganda and peer pressure...and voila!

Some people call it 'inhumanity' ................I don't. It's very human to want a level of power of another human being. And picking and choosing which human lives or dies is just an extension of that.
I can assure you hoppy (and I believe it's not hard to believe ) that there are still lots of albums depicting the camps all around the world but they will be protected by those who have them . For reasons only known to a few. They will surface eventually, that can be garranteed.

Thank you for posting this album Hoppy. I have never seen it.
It is so very sad to think of these poor people who were tortured and killed. It's a tragedy that will stay with us forever.

Everyone is probably narcissistic to some degree, and hopefully the older we become the less its apparent. I believe its more common in higher levels and considered even healthy in young people , but as we mature emotionally, the narcissism usually diminishes, I would suggest that adults with the desire to feel power over any other living thing is stunted in their emotional growth because they are still strongly narcissistic.
I have no idea how common this stunted growth is and so Its hard to say "how human" it is.

Individual narcissism doesn't quite work here Ahso. Because there would be an opposing view of other individual narcisists. So for every "Kill the Jews" there would be another mindset of "save the jews". I'm right you're wrong. Depending on the borderline personality disorder you are inferring here it doesn't quite work, for the purpose of the holicaust.
I think you may mean Collective Narcissism which would only be a component of the overall picture.

Yes and you associated that statement to Narcisism. wanting 'power' is not neccesarily narcisistic.
Hitler wasn't narcisistic in my opinion. He did have severe personality disorders and his personal traits you'll find among those in your own backyard. There wasn't anything special about Hitler at all. And this is how we pacify ourselves,,,,,,,"it's all one mans fault" when nothing could be further than the truth. It was a collective effort as it is today around the world.
In my view, and if you look into Hitlers personal history/background the ideology of those within his group were actually trying to kill Hitler himself off. (philosophically speaking I know, but humans are a strange lot..)
