I did see Danny's post yesterday. There it was, all alone in its sad glory, and his blue light button was on, signifying his presence with us, and yet already he was BANNED. The living dead. The not-yet-absent departed. Caught in that dastardly moment, struggling against the darkness, a flickering flame and then NOTHING.

Poor mrdann!! The dreaded ban

Unmanned this man

Departed him from garden clan

And changed him into also-ran!

Poor mrdann!! What was his plan

He came. He saw. He kicked the can.

Undone before he had began

I did an intro thread and everything but I was - I'm not sure how best to put this - I was rapidly considered a bit of an embarrassing defect. Nomad stuck by me through thick and thin, of course, but he's like that.

Shall we bump Nomie's intro thread and throw a few lit coals in his direction?

Alas. mr. spot, I have been neglectful.............and I apologize. My only excuse was that I still a newbie myself when you came upon the scene. I had not yet began my collection of welcome mats.

Here is the overdue welcome mat for you. :)

southern yankee - moderators apparently identified this poster from the word go, as a spammer. Often spammers visit with totally plausible, friendly opening chat and to us simple, unsophisticated folk here, all looks totally kosher. BUT, moderators have special little antennae - and other cutting edge techie things - which slice through appearances, and let them know who is suss and iffy, and needs to be neutralised in a vat of bleach.

When a newbie joins up, digital fingerprints and iris photos are taken. Sniffer dogs snuffle their spelling. They get patted down. Explosives experts consider their grammar and subliminal microbots digitally scan every place they have been on the internet and then some. Positions need to be asssooooomed. Newbies may be old nasties in disguise, or Large Corporations wanting to place monitors in our brains. They might be Governmental Agencies wanting to probe us anal-ytically or just ordinary gangsters searching for our Swiss bank account numbers. (Occasionally a genuine new member crops up and these are given a very special golden welcome mat by AFTR - which erases all memory of the customs and immigration process).

I'm awfully glad the mods are here

I sleep at night devoid of fear

Of mrdann and all his ilk

I'll buy the mods a glass of milk

Or maybe they'd prefer a beer
