YW I liked it too. I liked Toms view of us. I have to say in my many years of being on this planet I am sooooooooooo proud to be a Canadian, and so happy to see how we have finally gained recognition as the great country that we are globally. Yes I am bragging and I am old enough to do so hehehehehe

Thanks to minks and to jazzy for helping out. This was an excellent commentary by Brokaw. There are so many things about Canada that I forgot about, and yes, I must admit it that it does also make me proud to be Canadian, and yes - I am old enough too for bragging rights!!:wah::-4

I bet we will. I think for many of us Canucks who have lived here for 40+ years realize we have come a long way.

Crazy to think the State of California has more people in it than the whole of Canada crazy huh.

I have traveled in your beautiful country many times. I have always been spell bound by its beauty. I enjoy the Canadian people they are kind and were more then willing to help us American's who got lost in their back country, I knew where I was but the other people with us got lost. :wah:

Moose are insanely dangerous, and yet Canadians still take the trouble to wipe their botties for them!! As a mere croc-wrassling-before-brekkie Aussie, I am IMPRESSED !!

I can vouch for that. Had one chase me after I tried to get a good close up pic of her calf.

I don't even know how I managed to get away, but I guess she stopped when satisfied I was safe distance from her calf. I didn't turn around to look until I had hopped three creeks, climbed a twenty foot bank and into a tree.

When I did look back, they were both back to munching peacefully on the greens and had forgot about me completely.

I was much younger, and faster - not to mention more foolish - then.

This was in Wyoming, but I reckon moose in Canada are no more hospitable.

you were indeed lucky.

This is when they are most dangerous.

The most dangerous time of the year to meet up with cow moose (female moose) is in the spring and early summer when they may very well have young calves. Use common sense and never walk between a moose and it's calf.

Bull moose are generally most aggressive during the fall mating season when they may perceive you as a threat and potential competitor to the cow moose they are courting. In fact, bull moose have been known to take on passing locomotives!

Moose also have a natural hatred of all canines, as they are often prayed upon and harassed by coyotes or wolves. If you meet up with a moose be sure to keep your dog under control in order to avoid a moose confrontation.

- Bull moose have been known to attack passing locomotives

Should you encounter a moose be sure to back off a bit and give it plenty of room. However you may surprise a moose while traveling through overgrown country or the moose may surprise you by suddenly tromping into your camp unexpectedly. In close quarters always back away slowly and calmly.

Once the moose seems to have left the area, be very careful. Moose have been known to return in a short time in an attempt to get you again!

That was a great report, and done with sincerity on the part of Tom. I have shared this with others.

I was amazed to find out that the Canadian ambassador in Iran during the time of the hostage situation was in fact working for the CIA as well. Yikes!
