Oil in the South Atlantic

Post by bne1 »

While oil companies are elated at finding oil near the Falkland Islands we the public have remember that it costs a lot of money to drill and transport the oil to the customer so we are going to pay a lot for it. The highest bidders are going to be the from the rich nations. Poor Africans and Asians won't gain from this wealthy find.

Oil in the South Atlantic

Post by spot »

Wealthy find in what sense? The last I heard, the South Atlantic drilling has produced a total of two litres of crude oil. They're a long way short of demonstrating any reserves there at all. What they have are maps of strata which could, if the bulk of the oil didn't all leak away millions of years ago, hold economic reserves of oil.
