Where's my movie sound gone,? Help please?

Post by Aura »

I have a Sony video camera DCR-SR32E and I uploaded some work to Picture Motion Browser (PMB), then converted the files from MPEG to WMV using Prism video converter.

When I reviewed the film in Movie maker it was silent, which is a pain as I have some good bird noises etc on it. What I would like to know is how do I correct this? Will I have to convert, or start all over again (groan)

Does anyone know of Prism? And is there a good video converter which can be trusted for quality etc?

I have Windows XP Home. Many thanks :)

Do you have all the necessary sound files for windows movie maker so it will play WMV? Try playing it in something else like Quicktime or Itunes, or just Windows Media player first. Sounds like a codec issue try upgrading to the newest version of "Movie Maker".

Can I also upload from Sony camera to Windows Movie Maker?

Have you ever run any windows updates on your PC? Sometimes just doing that will upgrade it for you.

If you look to the right on the link I sent you it takes you to the download or instructs you how to download it.

As far as your Sony camera it should have come with software to do everything your trying to do, install it on your compute. Or go to Sony site and get the downloads for your camera it should have come with a CD.

If quicktime won't play it and movie maker won't play it you most likely need to most current versions of both or use SONY software instead usually they provide great software with their cameras.

Is it giving you any codes or errors when it won't play?? google the errors and see what is going on.

THIS IS THE SONY SITE IN THE IK FOR YOUR CAMERA THE SOFTWARE YOU NEED IS THERE WINDOWS XP BUT YOU HAVE TO HAVE UPDATED TO SERVICE PACK3.

I have windows 7 so it is a bit different if I remember correctly you have to add or import the video and sound seperately in a format that windows movie maker allows. Nothing will open directely in to Movie Maker you have to start it as a project steps by step.

As I suggested it might be easier to use the SONY software for you camera first.

Movie Maker is great if you can get it to work with your specific files and convert to what it accepts. You need to go to SONY'S site and ask the question for your problem they should have a solution or google it be simple in what you ask and hopefully you will get a solution. It sounds like a conversion issue or a codec file you need for Windows to open it and play it. Since QUICKTIME won't play it either is the format most likely. Have you tried opening it in Window Media Player?

As far as Video Software hate to tell you this but SONY has some of the best out there. Someone has had a similar issue you just need to find the solution I would start with your SONY software or documentation it should at least tell you what other format are acceptable for Windows or Mac for that matter.

It plays in Media player but that's no good if i want to put writing on it etc. I will try Sony Site and see what happens. The instruction book isn't very clear and the writing is so small it's rediculouser. I think I might be better off getting a movie software package and scrapping movie maker. I hate Picture movie browser and it's not uer friendly at all. It goes on about being able to arrange the photoes which I have tried, but I can't move them when I click on them and I have tried looking for help on the programme but all with failer.

:-5

I just wish I could find a solution to this ongoing problem.
