Hi everybody ! Hope you are all fit and well and enjoying a good day! :-6

You remember that we had a total renewal of our central heating last October, well it has lasted till today! I have a carbon monoxide sensor, which is placed near the new boiler. Today it shrilled it's alarm, indicating carbon monoxide was around. We turned everything off, including the gas at the main lever, and I managed to get the alarm to shut up! I am now deaf :rolleyes: This happened at nearly 5 pm, so by the time I'd called the gas emergency number for their engineer to check out our gas system, it was too late to ring the company that installed the boiler and the radiators ! :-5 We won't be able to contact them till 9 am Monday :-5 They are available 9 am to 5pm Mon to Fri. At least the outside temperature is a little warmer, although it's pissin it down with rain, so the dampness will make it feel cooler.

Chris has dug out our calor gas double burner/grill and installed it in the kitchen, and he has dug out our halogen heater for the sitting room, unfortunately the little electric oven (meant for our tourer caravan) has died, so we aint got an oven. Never mind, we have the microwave, and we have our electric kettle, so we're set up really. But it is such a bloody nuisance, and the flamin boiler is only 5 months old ffs! We'd just got used to having hot running water as well !! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I am so glad we have a carbon monoxide sensor, even though the central heating boiler was new 5 months ago. It is amazing that the boiler could be faulty !!!! But just goes to show dunnit? Although, after all the fuss, if it is found that the sensor is faulty I shall grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :yh_cry and insist on a replacement asap, from the manufacturer under the warranty !

I know with a furnace never to have a detector that close, as the gas flame is there so it would detect.

The detector has been in that same position for 5 months, so I would have thought that if the gas flame was near enough to be detected, then the alarm would have sounded weeks ago!

Tested what?

There is no smell of gas. The gas board engineer called and he checked everything out. He sealed off the gas where it comes into the house to the meter box, so everything is shut down. He checked that the boiler was all switched off and hung a 'do not use' label on the front, so now I have to wait till Monday to call out the central heating installers to check over their boiler and installation pipes etc.

Don't worry, Odie, Chris and I had covered all safety aspects and shut off the gas as soon as the alarm went off, and before we even called the gas board. We opened windows and doors, and made the house ruddy cold. I even went outside to smoke a roll-up, rather than risk the remotest chance of an explosion! I have seen the devastation that a domestic gas explosion can cause.

soooooo glad you had your smoke outside, one can never be to careful.

even when I filled up my jerry can last week with gas for the lawnmower, I never smoked......

do you have a heater so you and Chris can stay warm?

got my boss's freind to have a look at it tonite and it worked for him straight away................ i bought it home, switched on and so far so good...............:-3

must be bad signal again................

anyway i'll say goodnite for now, been a long day and ive not been too well this last couple of days............... not been able to move too far away from the toilet and thats all im saying on the matter................:rolleyes:;)

Good day everybody ! Eeeeee the sun's shining and burning off whatever mist/fog has mantled the ground over night, what a co-operative sun ! I've done one load of washing and that is hanging out busily dropping drips onto my patio, another load is busy cooking in the washing machine. Such a labour-saving device is the washing machine, and the sun is saving my electricity consumption via the tumble drier ! While that is happening, I shall have a few minutes with my friendly laptop!

we had summer like weather last week, in the upper teens, Friday was 19 and broke a record, today is 2, it should warm up to the regular temp of 6 this week.

It does suck as I got used to being outside and doing things, good day for a sleep.

Hello everyone! I've come to mutter :wah: Last week I had a sinus infection and asked the doctor for antibiotics but he said I didn't need them. Next thing I know is I have an ear infection on top of the sinus infection. The dumb a$$ then had the nerve to ask me why I wasn't taking the antibiotics (that he never gave me) :-5 Midnight (my horse) and I were asked to be in the local St. Patty's Day parade but I was too sick to go

Now, it's supposed to be Spring time here and it's 34 degrees and snowing like crazy! :-5

The last straw is that I have been working while feeling like

and we got an ambulance call for some drunk who decided to take a swim in the freezing lake. He refused to come out and started taking all his clothes off (*puke* because he was an old man with an already shriveled up

to begin with). Took the police scuba team to get him out. Once he was in the back of the ambulance he asked me if I wanted to see his "fishing rod" (you can guess what that meant). I told him no because I didn't have my magnifying glass on me :wah:

mornin gill and everyone,

having a lazyish day, got the dog walked and been to the shop now the rain has set in for the day AGAIN so im hoping it wont be too bad later when i go to work.

finally told my boss the other night im begining to find picking up those bags of potatos is getting too much for me now............. not sure how that went down but im afraid it needed to be said...........

easter in 2wks and the start of our summer season, i just cant keep that up any longer then go on to work behind the counter and everything else that entails............

its not so much the job, its the stress its putting on my hips, knees and ankles and the amount of pain i find myself in at night and first thing in the morning when i try to get the old bones moving again..............

ive done it darn nearly every day for the last four years, some times doing as many as 25/30 55lb bags a day and sorry............ enough is now enough !!!

hope you are all fit and well.............

gill, good job the weather has improved a bit now or you might have been finding icicles hanging off various things with no boiler again

Hellen: Good for you for telling your boss. I can't imagine lifting those 55lb bags every day. That's way too much and it's bound to have an affect on your body. I'm sorry you're in pain like you are every night and morning. I'd be in pain too if I had to do what you do. I hope your boss can understand and stop expecting you to do that every day. It's very depressing and I just want to be able to open the windows and get some fresh air. So much for Spring :-5

This Friday I'm taking my final test to be a State certified Water Rescue Team Technician. The last part of the test we will be in the lake for 90 minutes. They throw heavy dummies and objects in the lake and we have to bring them to shore. I'm not looking forward to this part of the test as the lake water is freezing cold. The scuba suit really doesn't keep you warm and I have to remember not to fart in my scuba suit because you know what happens if you do :yh_rotfl

Oh, Helen, I know it's precipitating again all over the west country and I dare say it will creep it's way up north to our neck of the woods grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

We had the installing company send an engineer out yesterday, and after thoroughly checking EVERYTHING the boiler etc were passed as being in perfectly good order. So it remains a mystery why the detector sounded off like that. The chap asked if we had had the window in that room open at all, and I said no, but truthfully I just cannot remember, neither can Chris. If it had been open then with the north wind that we had on Friday would probably have blown the gases from the boiler exhaust pipe in through it. The 'office' window and the boiler outlet pipe are on the same north-facing wall. The window could have been opened by Andy's friend who stayed the previous night! It's only a small window, not big enough for a person to climb through, so no risk of burglars :rolleyes: Anyway, everything is up and running and the detector has been quiet

You know, Helen, I've nagged you to pack in all that humping ............ oops, I mean all that lifting of those bloody heavy spud sacks! You know they would let you carry on with it as long as you are prepared to! Glad you've dug your heels in at last, so don't change your mind Mrs. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr You've got to take care of number one for a change! They won't bother ! You just cannot do it any more !!!!! FULL STOP !!!!! It's a job for one of the blokes or a much younger female. DO NOT DO IT ANY MORE - LIFTING SPUD SACKS FFS !!!! :-5

When I look at the sunshine here, it is difficult to imagine you with a flood warning ! Gawd, best of luck with your final test Jazzy, but I would have thought they could have waited till things were a bit warmer, although I suppose such rescues don't hang about waiting for warm weather in the real world :rolleyes: Wet suits are supposed to warm with your body temp. aren't they? Mind you if your body is cold any way, what help is that going to be ?

I remember once telling my boss I could no longer carry file box's, he said, well, I guess you can no longer do one of the job requirements you were hired to do!:mad:

Tell him your back now is really bad and to give you something else to do besides carrying heavy potatoes!

but get a doctors note first, and have him specify why you can no longer lift and the reasons why.

When I have a shower, my smoke detector goes off and its 8 feet away, its the steam from the shower that sets it off, as the detector is very sensitive.

I can only have one smoke detector in my bungalow.

fell over on the wet grass on thursday morning and ive broken my tybia in two places and pushed my ankle completely off its site !!

ln hospital now. waiting for swelling to go down, i will then have lengthly operation to put it all back !!!

the internet is free but its on the bedside tv which hangs down over your head so im basically lying on my back to to type this so forgive me if im not on here long !!

no more work. darts. dog walking for many weeks now. getting wally back from daughters and my darts team captain is having him. she dosnt live too far away from me

thats enuff for now. arms are killing me !!! try to get back later xxx

Oh Helen! I can only repeat what I said over the phone to you Mrs! So very sorry to hear about your accident......... I know you said it wasn't hurting, but that was Thursday, so I hope it is still the case for you! At least you can get the internet while you're in hospital, which is something. Even if you can't type for very long, at least maybe you will be able to read some of the threads! LOL

I hope you are comfortable enough to get some sleep at night, and the hospital food is OK !

just wrote loads and lost it !!!

feeling so stupid rite now !! only went the way i did to avoid another dog !! my left foot slipped, my right one doubled up under me and i sat on it !!! i heard it crack and it was at a funny angle but i managed to put it down so it wasnt trapped like it...........

a lady i see every day took my phone and called the ambulance, stayed with me til it came then took my wally to the vet, where he stayed til the daughter picked him up. he was so distressed bless him.........

they cant do anything about it til the swelling has gone down but i wont be able to walk past a magnet again by the time its repaired lol

the only pain relief ive had is morphine' when the doc manipulated it back enough to put in plaster til they can sort it properly !!!

the lady in the bed opposite me had hers repaired under an epidural injection !!!!

lm hoping can have the same, dont want to be knocked out.

arms aching again, more tomorrow........... thaks for all your knd thoughts though xxxxxx

I think Helen said that she wanted to avoid another dog, that she didn't want to meet another dog, as she had Wally with her and maybe the two dogs don't get on.:-6:)

it was another springer spaniel who seems to think mine would look better on a plate with a side order of ketchup...............

just about to have lunch____ roast pork

one thing ive noticed is that those people who have come back here from theater are all fully awake, sounds silly i know but thats the bit that scares me, being bundled up in blankets with wires etc attached while you are struggling to come round.

i know it was only 2yrs since my thyroid op but obviously things have advanced since then !!

Yummy ! I haven't had roast pork in years! (don't bother with too much meat, as Andy is totally vegetarian, so it involves keeping his cooking separate from any meat products - so can't be arsed !)

I think you'll find that if an operation can be done by 'local' anaesthetic rather than putting the patient right under, the recovery by the patient is usually quicker, and there is less likelyhood of nausea as well. I could be wrong about this, so you could ask the doc, or sister.

By the way, you have an email Mrs ! :yh_rotfl sent to your hotmail addy ! You'll have to PM me if it has changed. I seem to remember you were having bothers with your email a while back, or am I wrong :-3
