The lilac isn't really out properly yet - needs another couple of days sunshine. I've seen some blossom falling off the cherry tree, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will still be having a brave show when the lilac actually comes out properly! If I took pics now, they would not be much better than the ones I've already put on here. You can just see the lilac bush just in front of the cherry.

im having another one of me " moments " this morning...............
all i seem to be doing at this minit is paying out for people to help me :-2
got to pay the dog walker later, if i want my washing collected, washed and brought back its gonna work out at £12 for one machine load to be done.
my " friend" comes here every day anyway but im now paying her £10 a week petrol, buying her take away meals and ciggarettes just for her to fill my kettle up, pull my curtains that i cant reach and let wally out the door for his last pee. i even hopped round the kitchen and cooked a simple meal the other night and shes starting to complain shes tired which makes me feel real good
of course i have to pay for another friend to take me to hospital next week but shes got one of those people carriers and the hospital car park charges are horrendus so thats gonna be at least another £15/ £20 cos i dont know how long im gonna be in there.
what ever happened to helping a freind in need ?? it just seems to be all take these days.....................
plus im up washed and dressed by 7-15am cos i couldnt sleep for worrying so todays gonna be a long one !!!!!!

Helen, Helen, Helen,
You really should just tell 'em
You need their help, but you are trapped
You can't do things yoursel an
You're feelin mizz, you're helpless
You're purse is getting cash-less
You can't pay out each time, with nowt
Your Lotto number's useless !
:(
thinking::D
Must be so frustrating, to be dependent on other people. Makes you feel awful, and that you are imposing! But you are not Mrs. I know, and so should they, that if positions were reversed you would do all you could to help them and you wouldn't do it expecting payment. I agree expenses should be covered, but 'wages' !??? I know that if you could afford to pay bloody wages, you'd no doubt have somebody 'come in' a couple of times a week to hoover and do your washing! As for buying meals for others!!!!! They would have to buy them themselves anyway - that's awful, sorry but that's the way I look at it!
Still, hopefully you may soon be your own 'boss' and not need so much assistance, except possibly walking Wallace. Hey! Why are people taking money from you for just walking the dog ffs! ? Mercenary sods! They should enjoy walking your dear dog!
Another thing, what is to stop your friend dropping you off at the hospital and coming back later when you have rung her when you are ready to be picked up?
Your friend could use the time to do some shopping surely - it would save high parking charges at the hospital. Doesn't the hospital have 'hospital volunteer taxis' to transport patients to and fro ? They do have these at Nottingham - you may have to wait for other patients to join the taxi, to make it more practicable cost-wise for the taxi, but the facility is available. If you haven't done so already, you ought to enquire. There may well be a charge, but I doubt it would be nearly as expensive as the parking charges!

hi gill,
i did try the hospital transport.......... its 40p a mile for the first two hours, the driver could come from just up the road or say for instance penzance........ and the time starts as soon as they leave their front door. its about a 30 mile round trip from here to truro then hes got to bring me back home and then go home himself.
after two hours they discount the whole journey and then charge double for it all !!!
if your fracture clinic is anything like ours, i could be in there for several hours so thats a lot of bloody money.
the son in law would have done it but theyve changed his shift pattern and so he has to work.
im paying the dog walker £30 a week, i got a list of walkers from the vet and some of them charge £7 an hour !!! im in the wrong buisness arnt i ???
ive just done me washing or what i can handle of it myself by hand in the kitchen sink. couldnt manage me jeans or me king size duvet cover. it took me over an hour. luckily ive got my mums old spin dryer so its now hanging up in the front room cos i cant get out to hang it up.
ive got a stack of rubbish outside, been putting it out the kitchen window, again cos i cant get outside. the friend wont carry it 30ft to the road for the bin men !!!! its too heavy.
god im at it again arnt i ???? moaning i mean, better quit while im ahead !!!

No need to say sorry, your dealing with so much having to pay each person for things you need done.
I can only imagine just how frustrating this has to be for you.
Some can no longer afford gas to run about, but your friends shouldn't be charging you just to fill up a kettle and pull your drapes?
I think you should try and be firm with her and tell her your no longer working and you don't have gas money, take out and cigarettes to give her.
I would be up early as well worrying, and you shouldn't have to.

Actually, Helen, I believe you can ring the council and say that you are incapacitated and can the bin man come into your yard and collect your rubbish as you can't take it to the road - they would make a note of your addy and should do that for you. Well you can do this in our area, so I suppose it should be a nationwide thing, although I could be wrong!
Chris has just mentioned that hospitals have mini-bus ambulances that 'do the rounds' where they act like a bus and drop off several people in the one journey. Is that what you are saying costs 40p per mile? Or are you quoting for a saloon car type hospital taxi?
Gawd I wish I lived a lot closer Mrs. !!!!! :-5:-5:-5

Why can't your friend take your washing home for you, bring it back clean and dry. I'm gobsmacked you have to pay a 'friend'
to do odd bits and pieces for you, how bizarre!
Your friend could take you to hospital, drop you off, drive back to the park and ride, park her car, take the bus to the hospital and join you in the fracture clinic. £1 I think you'll find it is, considering she's so bloody money orientated it's a damn site cheaper than the £2.10 for two hours or £4.40 ish for the 2-4 hours charged at the hospital.

BB I expect you would do that if you could, even with your work load and commitments ! I know I would if I was living any where near Newquay! Some people are unbelievable! They are supposed to be friends, to be there for their friends, to help when needed and not to look for reward for being a 'friend'. Helen isn't earning at the moment, and they know it. Even though Helen might have insisted on paying them something, except possibly expenses. But to accept 'ready meals' and cigarettes ! ffs! We all know how expensive cigarettes are now !
Give me strength!
BB your suggestions are brill! Helen, you should have a chat about that idea with the friend who is taking you to the fracture clinic. Perhaps she hasn't thought of that!

I do do it for friends yes Gill, damn pity Newquay is an hour away
Just this last week I hot footed it off to Truro hospital to take nightclothes and toiletries etc up there for my friend, if she hadn't been released later that same day I would have been trekking up and down daily to visit her and paying the parking charges without moaning! Same as I did last time she was in there. Luckily her mum was down on holiday at the time otherwise I would have had her two children here with me too. Same as if anything happens to me she takes over and has mine and helps in anyway. That's friendship, no questions asked just get on and do what needs to be done.
Give me strength!

What you and your friend show, BB, is true friendship. It is a rarity these days, and it is something to be treasured. There are far too many 'friends' who mentally say 'What's in it for me? Will it put me out? Will I be out-of-pocket?' they are really only 'fair weather friends, but I suppose they are still 'friends' and are necessary to help one out of a hole, in times of need. But a true friend doesn't count the cost, and more often than not, puts an arrangement they had made for themselves on a back burner, just to be available for their friend! Those sort of friends are as rare as 'chickens teeth' !

if I just lived closer Helen, I guess because you and I live on our own and have no one around, I do understand and I'd be there for you.
That's what friends do, they help out in good times and in bad, and they don't charge money for doing chores.
as said earlier, have a chat with this so called friend who is asking for gas, take out food and your cigarettes, perhaps she forgets your not working.

the friend and i met by chance at a darts match about a year ago, although i had seen her around over the years, i didnt know her personally.
her ex boyfriend has been a very close friend of mine for about 25yrs (although i didnt know they knew each other !! )
when she found out i was in touch with him on a regular basis and he very often came down to see me, she suddenly adopted me and there hasnt been a day in this last year, she hasnt been stuck to my rear end like chewing gum to a blanket !!!!!!!
SHE WANTS HIM BACK !!!!!!
he dosnt want to know her any more !!!! and she hasnt quite grasped this fact.
as she once said, she cant understand why he would prefer my company to hers when shes so stunning and younger than me !!!!!!!
sorry but ive got to give her 10 out of 10 for trying and its given me a few laughs seeing what shes willing to do to get him back in her bed and it just aint happening.......................
so i guess i deserve what im getting right now !!!

this is a different one, shes an elderly lady who is not really much better off than i am, bless her, shes had both hips replaced then she fell over and broke her arm badly.
to be honest, im a bit scared of her taking charge of me on one leg  when shes not much better herself but i hardly know her and yet she still offered to help.
i certainly dont mind paying for the fuel, although i dont run a car myself, im well aware that its not a cheap thing to do these days !!

no, the park and ride would be too much for her.

Good morning everyone! Sorry but I got upset reading the "so called friends" that have been taking advantage of Helen. Can these people get any "lower" by charging a friend money? :-5 For crap sake these are not friends these are money sucking leeches.
I have been busy and the weather here is just awful. No more snow but as soon as the weather got warm all we are getting now is rain. Today we will get thunder storms and my dogs are going to freak out. Thank goodness they have their "own bedroom" and they run in there to hide. They bark and bark and if this storm keeps up all day, I might wind up deaf :wah:
Odie: I have a woodpecker too that keeps pecking on my wooden mailbox. Sometimes he pecks so hard the flag goes up that lets the mailman know there is mail to be picked up. Maybe one day the woodpecker will get inside and the mailman can ship him off to your house and you can then have a pair. :wah:
Gill: Not sure what to say to you other than a good hostess has tea and cake ready when people visit :wah: Did you drink all the tea and eat the cake all by yourself? :p
Sending you all (((hugs))) and life is not easy but it's easier for me when I have friends like you guys :-4

Can I mutter just a bit more....
Don't be on the receiving end of a car accident, sick of chasing the other insurance company to find out when exactly they are going to repair my car and now I have had to listen to the woman who accepted full responsibility for rear ending me moan at me for having a personal injury claim put forward. I'm only doing what I was advised to do :-5
Anyway, three more days Helen, although technically it's almost tomorrow so that's just two more days :wah:

ive been having............... er, how can i put this delicately

looks like a beautiful day again.
that icelandic volcano is making its presence felt again and a lot of flights have been cancelled. the one good thing about it is that people have decided not to holiday abroad now and our tourist industry is doing well out of it.
pity i cant work and take advantage of the extra hours that would come my way:mad:
48hrs to go............. yes i know thats two days
but i can count it in hours now NOT weeks........:wah:

Hi everybody! BB, Odie, Jazzy, Helen, Uncle Tom Cobley and aaaallllllllllll!, Uncle Tom Cobley and allllllllll :yh_rotfl
Thanks to all for your kind thoughts XXX I feel a little more 'up' again, may have been due to a little trip out yesterday and a phone call from somebody I miss terribly.
Eeeee Helen, not long now! I really hope it all goes well
Will you have that 'boot' on for a while then? In any case, I expect you will feel an awful lot better for 'loosing' that plaster cast Mrs! I expect you will not be allowed to put too much weight on your foot yet, so just do as you are told, and not too much too soon. You may also be given a couple of crutches to help you along for a while, and I expect if that is the case, you will be able to manage them better than before.
Odie, I hope you feel OK, and getting on top of things, and your weather isn't too dreadful! My damn lilac isn't out much more than a few days ago :-5 Probably because sunshine has been a little sparse, although it was nice yesterday.
Jazzy, you sound a bit overwhelmed with power down, busy business, pouring rain, thunderstorms, then your work on top of that! Oh we are told summer is just round the corner :wah:  I'm keeping fingers etc crossed that your weather improves and you can get out in your yard to hang your gazing thingies up ! Yes I can understand that fellas wouldn't be seen dead hanging stuff like that up :yh_rotfl
BETTY BOOP GET ON WITH YOUR REVISION !!!!!!!!! :p grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :wah:
Yes I had a very pleasant trip through the Vale of Belvoir yesterday, in the sunshine, although it did cloud over in the late afternoon. The canal society that my hubby is Vice President of, has just taken delivery of a lovely 40 foot long trip boat - a narrow boat called 'The Three Shires' (because the Grantham Canal travels through 3 counties - Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, and Lincolnshire and it is 33 miles long). We went to have a look at it at Woolsthorpe-by-Belvoir, and it was breasted up alongside the work boat, that the Grantham Canal Society has been given, by British Waterways! The workboat has already been used. A small long-armed Smalley digger was loaded into the workboat and it dredged the canal of a rather large 'hump' of silt which had extended into the middle of the canal, impeding boat progress.
I have included a few pics taken yesterday. The trip boat has special steel covers to all it's windows, and there are 8 heavy duty padlocks for various things, for when the boat is moored up (Yes there are even vandals out this far in the countryside - they have cars now !). There is a pic of some oilseed rape just by the canal, not quite ready for harvesting. Also a pic of a charming canal-side cottage near one of the locks at Woolsthorpe, near the pub "The Dirty Duck", which is just beyond the bridge there.

I took some more pics, one of Belvoir castle, where the Duke of Rutland lives (he is the President of the Grantham Canal Society!), the picture is taken from just by the canal. The other pics are of a cottage in one of the villages in the Vale, where my sister stayed when she visited from the Isle of Skye. It was a sort of central point for her and hubby to visit the various relatives still in the Midlands area. It was a butcher's shop, but has been beautifully converted for luxury living (5 star!), and is rented out as a holiday let! You will notice that there is a decking balcony right to the edge of the Grantham Canal! Not too far to go for fishing ! :wah:
