What's the scope of this discussion again?

Nomad's must be the peace that passes all understanding.

It's amazing how much of this thread's been deleted since I last looked at it.

Part of the art of being human is the abiltity to post on a Forum, and to undo the post on the Forum. Hence, the capabiltiy of changing one's mind.

You feel whatever human side of yourself you exposed was inadvertently dorky? I don't buy it. You are at your best when you are real.

That's a fact. You need to trust that they already knew that the pretend dork wasn't the real you.:-4

So what did you say, because I really did miss it.... PM me if you want. I worry like you are one of my kids when you start this self conscious crap on me...

No that wasnt dorky. It was genuine. Thats why I felt exposed. I am at my best when Im real but I usually save it for personal conversations. The pretend dork must be at least a part of me, or perhaps its how I hide the real me.

Crap....now I feel exposed again.

I was lucky enough to have read your words before you deleted them, Nomie. They were genuine and moving. I liked them. :)

I, like AFTR, was able to read your words before you deleted them too, Nomad.

Got to say, they spoke of a side of you that we don't see much around here. Absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about. The real side is a genuine part of who you are, and it was a nice change to see. :-6

I guess it's only 'human' to feel awkward exposing yourself

Did you save it somewhere?

The Art Of Being Human???

Ambitious.

I'm just working on the Art of Being. Or, on a good day, the Art of Boing.

(As in, "Wahey!" {boingboingboing} :))

Cynically, the Art of being Human is the Art of being a self centred swine. Shouldn't we be trying to be More Than?

We behave like humans whether we want to or not. Isn't the key issue is The Art of Being a Better Human?

(I only saw this thread in its short version. Sorry if I'm way off beam.)

THE RULES FOR BEING HUMAN

YOU WILL RECEIVE A BODY

You may like it or hate it, but it will be yours for the entire period you're around.

YOU WILL LEARN LESSONS

You are enrolled in a full-time informal school called life. Each day in this school you will have the opportunity to learn lessons. You may like the lessons or think them irrelevant and stupid.

THERE ARE NO MISTAKES, ONLY LESSONS

Growth is a process of trial and error, experimentation. The "Failed" experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiment that ultimately "works".

A LESSON IS REPEATED UNTIL LEARNED

A lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. When you have learned it, you can then go on to the next lesson.

LEARNING LESSONS DOES NOT END

There is no part of life that does not contain its lessons. If you are alive, there are lessons to be learned.

"THERE" IS NO BETTER THAN "HERE"

When your "There" has become a "Here", you will simply obtain another "There" that will, again, look better than "Here".

OTHERS ARE MERELY MIRRORS OF YOU

You cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects to you something you love or hate about yourself.

WHAT YOU MAKE OF YOUR LIFE IS UP TO YOU

You have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.

YOUR ANSWERS LIE INSIDE YOU

The answers to life's questions lie inside you. All you need to do is look, listen and trust.

YOU WILL FORGET ALL THIS

Unless you consistently stay focused on the goals you have set for yourself, everything you've just read won't mean a thing.

I enjoyed the list you posted in general. Seemed to say a lot of truths.

But the one I've quoted? Oh my.

To be true, other people would have to be mere reflections of me. They aren't. They are themselves with their own agendas and priorities. Highly paid corporate execs with no sense of responsibility exist. I despise them. If I am reacting to my "highly paid executive inner child" I have never been aware of this inner swine in myself and nothing in my life says this little sod exists. Others are NOT merely mirrors of me. They are themselves with their own existence.

Seems to me it takes an executive swine to assume that others are just reflections of them.

(Oh, and AFTR, I am NOT assuming this was your complete opinion. You quoted a list of good seeming points. One of those points made me twitch bigtime, is all)

I do agree with you, clodhopper. How would life be if others were mere reflections of ourselves. :wah:
