The train of thought, stream of thought, or chain of thought refers to the interconnection in the sequence of ideas expressed during a connected discourse or thought, as to well known as the sequence itself, especially in discussion how this sequence leads from one idea to another.
An example:
Post #1 We have a small tomato garden in our back yard. The tomatoes are still green, but growing. Hubby found a worm today on the vine and squashed it. But there may be others. We must be ever vigilant. We are looking forward to big red juicy tomatoes

(Now the next poster can mention "tomatoes" or "worms" or "gardens"or "squash" :wah:.....anything that is mentioned in Post #1)
Post#2 Chilled, sliced tomatoes and cucumbers are delicious. I know some serve them with vinegar as a summer salad.
(Next poster can use any of the words from this post to make his her statement;
"salad" "summer" vinegar" etc.
Let's see where this Train of Thought takes us.
