Define 'nice', it's such a general way to describe somebody.
Do you really like him or not??

Let down by him or someone else?
If it's him, blow him off. You can't let guys to walk all over you and allow them to expect you to come back for more.
If it's someone else, go for it. It's not fair to compare past let-downs to someone you haven't given a chance to yet. What have you got to lose besides an evening of your time? If you don't take the chance, you'll never find what you're looking for. Regret the things you do, not the things you wish you'd done.

Thanks, Honney, which thread would that be? It's a saying I have used many times here and one I live by.

What in blue blazes are you waiting for?
Let's see. . . .Pros: free meal, save on gas, possibly kissing a new man, buying a new outfit, maybe a few free drinks (always insist on champagne!), reason to get all gussied up, a night away from home and reruns and pity cleaning
Cons: Lousy date, bad meal and he kisses like a seal
Pros: Alka Seltzer, you learned something new and you still didn't have to watch reruns or clean the house.
What do you think? Never ask that question again! :wah:

Nothing Ventured, nothing gained.
New guy heck you have no history, go with the attitude this is new. Think of it like a test drive and don't go in with huge high hopes, let him sell himself. Be cautious listen for knocks and rattles. Ask the same questions twice in different ways and see if you get the same answer back, if yes he sounds worth a second try. have fun, keep it light.

I don't understand your problem. If you never date anyone you will never ever have a meaningful relationship. Put the past behind you and don't be afraid of failure. Also, 9 years is not a big age difference.

Agree BB, 44 to 35 is certainly in line. If she were "20" or so, then it would be much more of a lopsided mismatch.
Like BB said, "most" older men know how to treat a lady!!!
Like BR said, go for it, what have you got to loose, except a night out that didn't go too well. But if it did go well, who knows. . . . . .

Honey, i was let down very badly by a past relationship,
and because of it i found it very hard to learn to trust again.
I was on my own and celebate (by choice) for 7 long and sometimes lonely years.
I met Ian nearly 4 years ago and decided enough was enough,
i did'nt want to spend the rest of my life alone, i needed to trust again.
You'll never know if you dont go, but at least it would be a step in the right direction.
Good luck xx

Thats what I think, why can't you just go out and have a good time without thinking too much into the future, let it develop naturally.
I'm going on a date soon, I can't wait but I'm only going with the expectation of having a good time with someone, if something else develops thats great but if not I still know I will have had a good night out.:guitarist

First dates are fun! If it goes well, you have something new and fun in your life to celebrate. If not, you'll probably at least have a funny story to laugh over once you're done being outraged. When are you going?

Had a couple of dates like that. never bothered with a second.
Want someone who is interested in me not what they can get from me.

Sissy!!!
I've finally found you!:)
Now for the boys in the room, chill out! A glass of champange isn't that much more than a mixed drink (of course, I'm really old and I suppose prices may have changed). I didn't say get a magnum, just a glass and show a little class. If a lady swills beer with the boys, she'll be treated like the boys and then she'll be stuck with Al Bundy. No offense to anyone, I like beer as well and the next person but you don't show your holey underwear until your married or really tight with someone!! :wah:
