This is kind of nice, I think. I mean, Tombstone could have decreed that I had 'No style' or maybe 'no class' - but then I would've been forced to come after him and pelt him with Garden of Eden type apples (at very least). But 'no status' - that is filled without nuance, an empty slate, perhaps a clean wall just ready for spraycan tagging.

"Horse" is the infamous cat from the New Zealand comic strip "Footrot Flats" - He is allegedly half shark (who knows which half?!). He shall be my avatar, for the moment.

Thanks, Chonsi. I think so too. I am not a cat person - but I hafta say Horse is fantastic. Not cuddly, not cute, but full of in-your-face bad attitoood, and ready to rip off the face of the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune ... How's your clarinet coming along? I got into a deep discussion in another place about the beauties of a serious German vuvuzela concert - and ended up late last night cruising through YouTube for everything I could find on the late, great David Munrow - upon whom I think I had my very first total crush. When I was little I had to do some of my schooling by correspondence, as they called it then, and this meant listening to the radio lots. I stumbled on a program called 'The Pied Piper' in which David Munrow explained old instruments and played medieval and renaissance music. I have never recovered. Grin.

I wish I could post pictures and links in this forum. Really cramps a girl's style always to be wondering if I'm falling foul of some little regulation. Anyway... um I'm raving on.

Have a great Fourth of July. The 'Star Spangled Banner' has become my earworm du jour, sigh...

I have learned all the lower notes, and am ready to try passing the break. I haven't figured that out yet, it has reverted back to squaking notes at me.

G'day Peg!! Hope you're not in too much pain!!! My younger daughter did her ankle in jogging recently and is still on crutches.

Yes, I think statuslessness is way cool. And I plan to stay this way. Also, I rather like the "I am: ..." bit. I'm going to leave that inscrutably blank. After all, what am I? What are any of us?

"What a piece of work is a man, how noble in reason, how

infinite in faculties, in form and moving how express and

admirable, in action how like an angel, in apprehension how like

a god! the beauty of the world, the paragon of animals"

That's fine for Orlando Bloom, Johnny Depp, Tim Roth and other paragons of animals - but we girls are something else again.. subtly undefineable (?sp) ... goddess like, for sure, noble in something way beyond reason (what's reason?) and stylishly ignoble to boot (to 18-inch-heel black-leather boot), etc etc

Even cowgirls get the blues ... and high priestesses of cardi get lonely. I can see statuslessness is going to become trendy, Peg. What have you started?!!! I can feel a pome coming on.

By the waters of status-lessness we all wept

stepped, crept, slept, swept, inept, adept, er yclept... nar

It's almost dinner time here. Grin. On the Fourth of July. I was intending to cook something American for the family but think it's going to be stir fry garlic and ginger chicken and noodles. But we'll raise a glass in a toast to American friends in and out of Forum Garden. Guess I better go chop some vegies.

Please, may I apply for statuslessness, if I can figure out how to rid myself of these status shackles that bind me? I've never really had a status and I didn't know what it was going to do to me. I'll admit I was greedy for a title. I was a shameless status- seeker, the kind that you read about in the tabloids. Why, I could clean stables, Stastusless Stable Sweep or Uncommonly Common Courtly Creature or something. :yh_worry Puleeeze?

Well, Zap, I'm afraid that's what happens when you crave something. It jumps up and boxes you in the face.

If only you could have spoken with me first I would have offered you wise counsel. But no, you knew better. So, instead of going about my very important business, I'm having to ponder solutions for you. And, to be honest, it's far too humid here to spend time pondering. But I will because that's the sort of person I am. And because I'm that sort of person, I'll leave you with some words of comfort:

When the oak is before the ash, then you will only get a splash; when the ash is before the oak, then you may expect a soak

I am in awe how you would ponder solutions with the humidity being high. I am honored to be part of the status-less group.

Thanks Kathy!! What a great looking swimming pool - just what Theia needs if she's going to take a splash behind the oak and the ash and the bonnie ivy tree. And that sunshine looks wonderful. It's freezing here this morning and a gal without any status on might risk frostbite. Maybe there's a brown cardi somewhere that is shy, cool, crazy ... or preferably just full of really bad attitooood?

Put the elephant outside for a bit, please Kaz:

Not only by the waters of statuslessness have I wept

But in something rather steaming and malodorous have I just stepped.

Anyone for a cup of tea?:sneaky:

O K. Tell me if I have this right. If I stand before the oak, which is behind the ash, I can expect a soak which will wash away all my statusnessnessness? (That's status threefold because I've been dabbling in the nine status symbols whilst trying to figure out what is expected of me.) Whilst I stand, waiting to be cleansed, is it permissable to wear some sort of uniform or vestal virgin outfit? I would prefer a chaste white with just a hint of a silver thread running through it and silver slippers for my feet. Oh and if it's not too statussy of me, I prefer lilies-or-the-valley for my wreath. Thank you. Merci.

OOOH, you look a bit tired, girlfriend, but that proposed vestal virgin outfit sounds very fetching. In fact you'd fit right into the court of Louis XIV, the sun king. Maybe we can get Kathy to topiary those trees round the pool, add a fountain or three and Chonsi might be persuaded to play us something renaissance-ish on her vuvuzela.. Forget tea. Bring on the wine!

Ohhh! What a marvelously lovely idea! Leave it to you, oh lustrously unstatussy one, to think of those perfectly lovely details which can only add to our Ceremony of Unstatusmanship. Kathy is so clever. I'm sure she can tope to anyone's delight and satisfaction. Note: That is NOT 'STATUS faction'. And The Chonse is well known for her mastery of anything that is playable. Do you suppose she could play something with a flavor (or flavour) of Woodbine Twineth?

Status

I am:

woman, hear me roar :yh_m2figh

In numbers too big to ignore

And I know too much to go back an' pretend

'cause I've heard it all before

And I've been down there on the floor

No one's ever gonna keep me down again

CHORUS

Oh yes I am wise

But it's wisdom born of pain

Yes, I've paid the price

But look how much I gained

If I have to, I can do anything

I am strong (strong)

I am invincible (invincible)

I am woman

You can bend but never break me

'cause it only serves to make me

More determined to achieve my final goal

And I come back even stronger

Not a novice any longer

'cause you've deepened the conviction in my soul

CHORUS

I am woman watch me grow

See me standing toe to toe

As I spread my lovin' arms across the land

But I'm still an embryo

With a long long way to go

Until I make my brother understand

Oh yes I am wise

But it's wisdom born of pain

Yes, I've paid the price

But look how much I gained

If I have to I can face anything

I am strong (strong)

I am invincible (invincible)

I am woman

Oh, I am woman

I am invincible

I am strong

If this thread had a status, Zappy, I think it would be "tired".

[quote=aussiepam;1320599]thanks kathy!!
