We just had a case here where the Press were trying to stir up trouble about the fact that a Primary School Head in Inner London was being paid £200,000 per annum. Turns out that paying him that much was the only way they could get anyone to do the job. I had to smile - for years we've been told that market forces set salaries, but when it happens to a teacher, ooooh, bad!
