Security----Power-----Fantasy

Because I spend part of each year in two countries I maintain a bit of money in both. From time to time I need to do a wire transfer of money from one country to the other.

I do this online by requesting one of the financial institutions via email to initiate the transfer. I must furnish them with routing information, account numbers and other security measures and request a particular currency exchange rate. Wednesday of this week I did a transfer from New Zealand to California. The funds appeared at the U.S. financial institution today having gone via New York & finally Pennsylvania. I have been doing this for 12 years and am not one bit concerned about security. There is a certain sense of power that I feel in doing these transfers and though the amounts are quite modest I fantasize that I am moving millions, like we see in some of recent films.

The amount of money that moves around this world on a minute by minute basis all by computer is amazing.

And I worry everytime I use the ATM card!
