Radar "Speed Trap" (as I did today) facing in the other direction as you passed it, would you then flash your headlights on the on comming excessive speeder's to warn them to slow down? :-2

Hi Cars,

We do that all the time, and almost everyone knows that signal and slows down:wah:

Excessive speeders won't slow down for anyone. They don't care!!

You get a ticket for driving 5 miles over the speed limit here.

I will. As long as it slows them down, I am happy.

There's been times we've been driving down the road and not realize we were over the speed limit. Thank goodness for cruise control!

I'm not a fan of speed cameras (because I don't believe they lower the road toll) I am a fan of police cars being seen and police being active.

We use this system of 'flashing' reasons for warning drivers of impending dangers up ahead though . I had a friend who was caught flashing their head lights and got a fine for another matter relating to her car. She was actually warning people of a danger (huge dead roo on a bend just up the road) Peg is correct flashing your lights does slow people down.Just don't get caught doing it.

I'm shocked she had gotten a fine, as she was warning others, to me she was being a good samaratin.

and I also agree Peg is right, it does slow vehicles down.

Nope. 10 to 1 there is another car in the opposite direction standing by to pursue when contacted by the car running radar.

The OP was referring to "excessive speeding", someone who was driving "90" in a 60mph zone. Like it has been said, most everyone goes 5 to 10mph above the posted limit, I do myself. (Hope no cops are reading this! :wah:)

Oh Cars, I missed that 'excessive speed.' No, I wouldn't have flipped my lights for excessive speed. I'm just so tired of our police force here stopping people because they've gone a bit over the speed limit.....like 5 to 20 miles above the limit.

Hey guys I know everyone has in each country speeding commercials/ community service safety messages ..but they've done something different lately and the feed back on this TAC Ad has been amazing. No one in the commercial are actors .....they are just the people affected by one solitary speeding accident ....I implore you to watch it it's very moving .and well....These are the people involved so it's very true. These people are desperately hurt and struggle kwith one single incident.

YouTube - 'Everybody hurts when you speed' - Three minute montage - TAC campaign - The Ripple Effect

I think a version of this should be shown in every country.

Oh, I don't know if I would have time to do that. Police followed me all the way to summer school yesterday, like yeah, the little old slow driving teacher looked real suspicious.

they were punching up your license plate.

happens here all the time.

My X the cops used to follow him constantly when we used to live in not so nice of a neighborhood, one day while they were behind him for awhile, he made a sharp turn, cops followed him, he got out of his car (which they do not like) and stood firmly and said, `what have I done now`.:-5

`I`m fed of always being followed by the cops!`

They apologized and said it was a different (his name) we were looking for, never again was he stopped.

20-30 yrs ago it seemed police were there to protect, serve, help citizens. Now days they are just money generators for the city, state. They actually get off on giving fines and screwing with citizens lives. It has become a police state, we might as well have the National Guard lining the streets.

I agree with you Yz.....The police in my town used to be so angry that they have many laws suits because they beat up our tourists, and they only seem to worry about generating money. Now they do nothing to help you because they're so afraid of the lawsuits. There's no happy medium.

But, the younger officers seem nice and helpful. So maybe there's hope...dunno...

My sister flashed her lights at an unmarked car one time. He pulled her over and asked her if she knows how illegal that is.

I would have told the cop "That was just my car winking at your car, she's a real flirt"
