If You wrote a book....

I believe we all have a book In us and we have some members here with such varied and Interesting lives that we could all write a book.

There Is Carolly who became the first London Black Taxi Driver...

There Is the old sauce pot Gill who had her own band...

Dear Kathy and her teaching skills...

GMC... Life as a Hippy..

etc etc

I would not know where to start... Maybe relating some of the stories told to me by my Mother when her parents had the village pub during the war. Putting a US Air Base In the field next to the pub, all kinds of malarky occurred. As Fast as my Grand-mothers nylons, coffee, fruit etc was coming In the back door from the Air base... the Beer was being rolled out the front In Payment..

Then as a teenager and early twenties... the hitch-hiking with my brother around Europe to see The Stranglers and all those dodgy hotels we stayed In...

So... If you wrote a book, what part of your life would you write about? Or all of It ?

well i would just have to write about my life. I think i would start from childhood as far back as i can remember. I would write about my feelings and emotions and how much they have changed over the years,, how differently i think about things now as opposed to when i was say 20

About all the life choices made along the way and what path they have taken me on. About all the people i have met who have had an influence on my life good or bad, Family members, friends, strangers even.

I think a lot of people's ordinary lives would be interesting to read about

My book would be about meeting my first love who was a navy guy stationed in Bayonne, NJ on the "Penobscot" ship.

My friends and I were in love with all the guys on this ship. They were the nicest fellas that we ever met.

We had loads of fun at the pub on the naval base. We'd dance all night and then have breakfast in town before going home.

We'd also visit the fellas when their ship docked at New London, Connecticut.

I'm still in touch with some of the fellas and have just found a friend on Facebook who was my partner in crime. We're meeting next week to renew our friendship.

I'm still a navy girl at heart:-4

I already wrote mine. It's sci-fi short stories. That was a blast, but it's much harder than you might think. I look back at that book now and, although I'm still proud of its originality, I see that the writing could use serious improvement. (Although the stories did get better as I practiced!) Now I'm going to write a novel.

I would write about the seven years spent as a licensed mortician and the 2,000 funerals that I was involved in. Love that TV show "Six Feet Under"

That would be a good seller... Make sure you add all the gory details...

That is very true.....

When my Father died, the Limo picked up My mother, myself, brothers and sisters to follow the hearse to the church. As we approached a round-about, we were mortified that the hearse went one way and we went the other. We had to park up until the hearse had been right round the ring road ( One way system) to get back to us. We just could not help but laugh and as we and the Hearse pulled up at the church, there were several hundred bemused mourners staring at us rolling with laughter In the Limo.. I wonder to this day what they thought of us...

When Father died, we have a family tradition of putting very sentimental small objects In the coffin. Photographs, letters, little keep-sakes etc. My brother was stuck for an Item to put with father and decided that he wanted to put the first cricket bat our Father had ever bought him In the coffin. A childs cricket bat but very special to him for all the days our Father taught him cricket. He tucked It down the side of my father but as the coffin bearers carried the coffin Into the church, the cricket bat started knocking Inside. Some of us nearly fainted :yh_rotfl:yh_rotfl

Lulu is good, oscar. I've used it for 2 chapbooks of poetry, and a special one I made up for my daughter's wedding.
