Back to school?

Advertisement in the paper this morning for this:

Amazon.com: To- Go Ware 2-Tier Stainless Lunch Box: Kitchen & Dining

They said it was "trendy" and implied all the kids would want to

have one... not around here! :wah: None of the kids I see would be

caught dead with one, I'm sure... I don't even see them with

brown bags!!

LOL at the lunchbox....Looks like something used in "Little House on the Prairie."

I went school shopping this morning at 8 when Targets opened. Thought I'd beat the crowd. No way...tons of parents and kidlets at the $1 part of the store. Had to leave with the crowds.

Now, I have to go back this week when I have more patience. The party boys next door threw me for a loop. I have to post on your other thread which I just saw on party times.

Oh, 2 weeks until kids return. Looks like a cool lunchbox. I use a small cooler, I have dinky lunches.

If kids used them here in Toronto, they would be dead meat.

Oh, a brown paper bag! Kids don't bring their lunches much anymore, they would much more healthy if they brought food from home.

They eat cafeteria food or junk type food from the machines. Yes, it is a waste of money, and not good for them either.

11-13 year olds, they thrive on sugar and junk food.

their not working then, shocked their parents give them that much money for junk, but they probably assume they are eating from the cafeteria, but still.....

kids can just pack their lunch in their backpacks.

I know, the parents should make them take their lunches, pack them for the kids if needed. We pack ours everyday, I never eat cafeteria food.

I am trying to figure out what to eat for school this year, they fed me too much candy for the calories last year. (they lived vicariously through me, 1-2,000 cal of sugared junk, kept my weight even-but I hate the down part when the rush is over in the afternoon) My little old teeth shouldn't have it. I lost 7 lbs this summer, and went through another donwsizing in clothing, I am not shopping for more. I will wear them too baggy until winter and thermals again. *sigh* I was drinking soy shakes, it helped, I think I will return to that when I go back next week.

I made my sons lunches everyday and they would just put it in their backpacks as paper bags were embarrassing.

since the kids are giving you candy, maybe you can persuade them, its not healthy for them & give it back.

That is great losing that much weight, what about sandwiches on whole wheat, fruit, yogurts, I used to take a banana, a sandwich for lunch and a low fat snack for afternoon break when I worked.

When I got sick of sandwiches, I would take pita's with tuna salad or salmon salad or a container with some stew or soup in it, just heat it up and eat it.

do you have a microwave and fridge in the teacher's lounge?

I have a 'fridge in my classroom, there is a microwave in lots of rooms. I eat enough, you can't eat too much and have to walk around the room all day long, and we eat early at 10:50.

The teachers fed me candy, I'm not going to eat it this year. Kids never eat candy in my room.

I think I will take a shake, I will have an extra break in the 12:30 slot, something extra during the day to have.

No, the cafeterias aren't that healthy-pizza, chicken nuggets, stuff like that is also on the menu as an alternative to the meal.

It is a thing that would bring ridicule to those with a nice little pail. Me, I'm an old teacher, I can get away with it. A 12 year old, oh they would razz them when we weren't looking. That is Odie's idiom she used, "dead meat." It means it will probably happen.

That doesn`t help when staff bring in all kinds of goodes, some can be to hard to resist.

A shake sounds good and it will fill you up.

kids here nowadays have changed, I had a luchbox, all the kids did, but now they think they are corny.

some schools do have cafeterias, but its also very expensive for their parents to put that money out every day.

This is a old replica version for a lunch box.

Military has one version - Boy Scout has theirs - Enamelware from the 40's etc.

I can't imagine a student 2010 would want to carry this around... NOT... trendy or not - not everything flys..!!

I know, kids are not trendy usually. And I tell my homeroom kids they put whatever they want in my 'fridge or their lunchboxes.
