Buying A New House Tomorrow

Post by Lon »

I never thought that at age 76 I would be buying another home but we decided that we need a bit more space. The house that we will make an offer on is just one block away from where we now live. Prices have come down dramatically over the past two years which means we will be taking less for our present home as well as paying a lower price for the new one. It's all relative isn't it? Real estate values have plummeted all through out the U.S.

What's happening in the UK?

Congratulations Lon!

Lots of homes up for sale to lift the burden of a morgage hanging over their heads because of job losses and being unemployed. Now's the time to buy, if one can afford to do so. Hope your offer is accepted!

Morning Lon!:)

Good luck with the new home. Are you excited about or bored by the whole thing?

Prices here did dip when the bank crash happened, but have recovered somewhat. I'd say in South West London they are about 10% below their peak.

Property here in South West London is still very, very expensive. There are parts of Britain where prices aren't so high. Sheffield, a few years ago, you could buy houses cheaply. Don't now what it's like now but it is likely that prices are still quite low because the region is poor and there are few jobs. Betty Boop and gmc may have very different experiences in this regard.

If we hadn't had considerable immigration from the Sub-continent and Africa in the last 50 years, one dreads to think what deserts some of our northern cities would be, with the disappearance of the heavy industry that created and supported them.
The crowd: "Yes! We are all individuals!"

Lone voice: "I'm not."

Interests rates here have remained stagnant but everything else has gone up ...in some cases almost by half . Petrol and LPG has sky rocketed. You see they say we got out of the recession that the rest of the world is having ...But that's crap because we still have to trade etc with the rest of the world so by default we're drawn into it.

This is the house that we now live in and it will be listed for sale today. We love the house but would like a bit more space for the over night family and guests, plus,

I am even closer to the golf course and pickle ball courts. Like 2 blocks.
