Oh Chonsi, I'm so glad that you like your class :-6. Do you teach science and social studies this year? Do your kids rotate to different classes?

When I taught 6th grade science we had 4 classes that would rotate from science to social studies, math and Language Arts. We usually had about 120 kidlets.

Today was our first day of school, and we had a wonderful day. I have 16 boys and 9 girls in my class. I like having more boys...there's less drama:wah: The parents and grandparents walked their kids to school and visited our class. They were all so cute.....kids, parents and grandparents. I just loved it. Everyone was so happy and friendly.

I also have a lovely student teacher who will be with me until the winter holidays and an excel teacher who joins us for a 40 min. period 3x a week. It's nice to have other adults in my class.

Mrs. K's class and my class will probably become pen pals this year, and I'm really looking forward to it. It's going to be a banner year for us:-6 between doing science activities with Chonsi's class and pen pals with Mrs. K's class:-4

I'm wishing you and your kidlets a wonderful year Chonsi. We'll definitely meet cyberly in January for a science activity :-6

Kathy, that's great to hear you had such a great first day back, your students must really care about you.:-4

and having a student teacher will help you alot as well and just having adults around as you said.

It's funny as the past two weeks I have been watching our Canadian Geese flying south and how much you love to see them for winter.

Thanks so much for saying that Odie:-6

I honestly felt so happy today because the parents and grandparents who visited had such high regards for me. That was so nice to hear that parents are glad that their children are in my class...makes me feel important:-6

Yes, I love seeing your geese and swans visiting...and now they seem to be making Noo Joisey their home now:wah: ....love it....Just wish the geese wouldn't poop so much. It's really pissing some off, and they've become so angry at the geese pooping on any open land, and killing them. There is a big debate now as how to deal with the geese and not kill them. Jeez...we take the land away from the animals, and now we kill them.

Your most welcome Kathy, as I have seen the effort you put in to making sure your kids are really happy, the projects you have done, your room with so many exciting things that make kids want to learn.

I'm not shocked the parents and grandparents have such high regard for you, as it shows in everything you do and how you treat your children.

There are few teachers like you now a days.

Oh I can only imagine how much mess the geese make, as our pidgeons do here and it's unsightly.

to bad they couldn't spay all the females.:yh_rotfl

Things are tough this year, we lost two teachers and the State just said, "suck it up." Now my average class size is 35. My room will only hold 33 chairs! I can tell you that anytime you go over 25 students in the classroom, a good 15 minutes of every hour will now be spent on classroom management and discipline.

Well, it's been a lovely, lazy summer for me but difficult to get back to routines and getting up early for work again. I've survived my first 3 days back to school, and have had a blistful sleep for 11 hours last night:-6

My kids are adorable and full of fun. My student teaches is also adorable and will be a great asset to my class. At the end of the day yesterday, my kidlets play a game of "7 Up." I couldn't find my student teacher and realized that she was playing the game with the kids:-6.....Loved it !!!!!!!!!!

Saint,

I have been meaning to ask you why your school goes back so early. Florida and some other states also return to school early.

Are your schools air conditioned? It must be so hot in August.

We go back to school on September 1st and end early in June if possible. Since I live in a beach community, the schools take less vacations and end early so the residents can work in the local stores and on the boardwalk and beach.

That is true about class size. I had one ideal class like last year, at less than twenty. Then the new student came in yesterday-I wonder what school district he was kicked out of. So disruptive that even the content leader and principal came by, knowing who he was. That small class always had a very high class grade average, I am thinkin of what to do with the new one.

It wasn't Friday it was Thursday. Grandad got it wrong.

She didnt enjoy the first two days very much. Came home very grumpy. She did strike up some sort of friendship but didnt know their names...LOL
