The most thoughtful thing for a child...

Post by Oscar Namechange »

Some-thing that occurred today really touched us both.

A male friends wife has just given birth to a new baby boy.

They have one other child, a little girl aged 2 years old.

As we do with all our friends and family who have new babies, we come bearing a gift.

Our friend reported that the little 2 year old was showing signs of jealousey although nothing major at the new arrival.

So a plan was hatched for taking the new babies gift.

We would also get the little girl a gift and before any-thing, hand that to her first. Then we would give HER her baby brothers gift saying 'oh and we got some-thing for him also and would you like to give It to him and help him un-wrap It'? We hope this will make her believe that we came to give her a gift and help with the jealousey.

I just think that Is a lovely thing to do for a small child and would like to say It was all my husbands Idea. :-4

That Peter is a very clever fella! :yh_wink What a splendid idea ! No child should feel left out on an occasion such as the birth of a baby brother or sister, and natural jealousy can be offset by such a thoughtful gesture. Allowing the two year old to be a part of the occasion like that, can only help with sibling bonding ! Excellent, and such a simple plan, good on yer Peter and Julie ! :-6 I will remember that for my own future use, thank you !

Yep, that's pretty much the way you do it. You make the oportunity for the child and they take it from there. It's great to see that this child has very special people around them .

:) Very thoughtful idea.

When I was a year old, my brother was born. When I was a two year old, my sister was born. :wah: So, on behalf the little big sister, I thank you.

What a wonderful idea and I'm sure the little one appreciated it too. Hats off to Peter for thinking of doing this!

That's a great idea, good thinking!

My girls were born close together as well, and I can tell you that that sort of thing, easing the jealousy, was greatly appreciated!

Well, I am thrilled to say that It all went as planned.

The 2 year old thought we had come to see her and give her a gift. She then got excited about opening the new borns gift as well.

We told her that we had got him a gift also as we did not want him getting jealous and she fell for It.

Mission accomplished. :wah:
