I have no problem with either, just when it becomes meaningless, ongoing drivel. Are people fearful of solitude and being quiet for any length of time? Do they actually sleep at night or are they constantly in contact with one another? Why this need for continual connection? Could these folks survive on a desert island even with food and water or would they just up and die for lack of meaningless conversation? :-3

I often wonder the same.
How often have you seen a car pass by, with two, three, or four people in it, and all are talking on their cell phones?
I have a cell for work, and it follows me pretty much everywhere. However, I never really like talking to people on the silly thing.
As for Facebook. It is an easy way to keep track of the grandkids, and other family members.
But I managed a whole two weeks in the Colorado back country without either of these.

I use the cell for talking to family members, it is cheaper than the regular phone. Mine gets turned off after 8 or 9, it has voice mail, they can leave a message.
FB-don't have it.

I have FB and sometimes use my cell to check in....especially if i get bored...like waiting in a docs office. otherwise i'm on fb on the computer...it's sooooooooo much easier than using a cell.

I have a Cell phone (mobile) for convenience but some people seem to be permanently attached to thiers.....it's a wonder the A&e department isn't full of the hundreds of people that seem to be oblivious to the world around them
Facebook is a good way to 'keep tabs' with everyone but I'm not obsessed with it.

The proportion is the result of no exercise. More and more kids, at least in America, do not play sports as much as they used to.
Oh, had anyone seen the recent projections that 75% of people in the US will be obese by 2022? That will be fun then won't it?

I agree on the cell phone, some have it attached like an I.V., seems texting is all they ever do, quite annoying when your around someone like that.
facebook, If I'm bored, I'm on it a few times a day to check the news feed.

I think you hit the nail on the head. Those attached like an IV are probably not good with themselves and have no idea about the beauty of quiet time. Someone else here mentioned kids, lack of outdoor play and obesity. That's sad. I grew up in a neighborhood where all the children were out playing until dark, i.e., hide & seek, badmitton, touch football, you name it. Great memories and very healthy in every way.
Good thread.

I don't know what that news feed is, but I remember you mentioned it before and that girl who wrote about her every move, when her husband was getting home, when she got a glass of water, etc. Hurts me head.

I have a mobile phone and have had the same one for approx 5 years. It works there-fore I have no Interest In Apps or up-grades. I never take It out with me except to work Incase I need to call Mr O. I would not care less If I lost It but having said that I do think they are a must for kids and teenagers.
We no longer live In the safe world of Yester-year and although It does seem like a teenager Is never off the thing, he Is able to contact the parents or police If need be. In my opinion, I would rather have kids with a way of getting help should they need It. Parents have a huge peace of mind If their kids are out and they are contactable.
The worst kind of mobile phone user Is the one that talks Into It In a building or the street and believes that you are fascinated with their lifes o talk very loudly to get an audience.
I was on the Gatwick to Brighton Commuter line one evening when a young guy was talking Into his mobile. He was talking very loudly for the benfit of any-one else on the train going Into great detail about how he clinched a multi-million £ deal at work that day....... Then his mobile rang !!!

News Feed is a page where you can see everything your friends say and you can also comment on those things. You can post videos, pics and tons of things.....you can also click to show new updates.
You also have your own profile page where you can upload your pic, your photos, comments, all kinds of cool things..if you ever want to just try facebook..let me know, we would be great together.:yh_rotfl
