20 yr old Justice of the Peace
perhaps it is felt they are young enough to relate to the juveniles. my only concern would be the lack of education/training and life-experience wisdom to decide on appropriate remedies for each situation.

My question would be how do they deal with people who are not juveniles? I know peer court sometimes has more of an impact than an adult court. As an adult approaching 50 - I would have big concerns going before these 2 very young people. I was put on probation 15 years ago for domestic violence when I was arrested for scratching the face of my husband who had just given me 2 black eyes and a fractured jaw - yes he was incarcerated. My PO was 19 and was trying to do the "touchy feely" kind of oversight. The first time we met I looked her in the eye and told her she had no life experiences that could equal mine and I wanted someone else - I thought she was going to cry. I got someone else. A woman about my age who knew the score, told me not to get in trouble for 6 months and get out of her office.

lol. I think everyone in this thread is in agreement....to judge you need a lifetime of experience to base your decisions on....and the more the better. (Oh, and sorry about your past pain, Nvall..and I'm so happy that BTS is feeling better. I was still composing an answer to your last PM to me, and what it all boiled down to was "time heals all wounds" which turned out to be right after all!)
Besides, I've known some 21 year olds, (myself included) and they are an emotional, unpredictable, and easily upset lot.

Come on Jives. They surely have better computer skills than some old geezer with life experience. Don’t you know what counts? And, lets face it, they won’t have their judgment all clouded with experience. All that experience could keep an older person from considering some of the creative ways to deal with youthful offenders. :rolleyes: :-5
Schooling results in matriculation. Education is a process that changes the learner.

Tell me to mmob if this is impertinent but how did you end up on parole after he assaulted you?
