Energy Security - Approaches of India and China

Post by altenergygeek »

How are India and China going to manage their growing energy requirements as they economies grow at incredible speeds? Both countries will do many new things, but most likely each will follow different courses...

Both countries are likely to more eagerly court the oil producing countries, whether or not they like it. Both countries are likely to place higher emphasis on renewable energy. Beyond these two major approaches however, the specifics for each country could be quite different (here's a presentation that provides India's perspective on this).

One can expect India to be a bit more sensitive to world opinion in this regard than China, and I guess that should not really surprise anyone.

What are your thoughts on how India and China's approaches to ensure their nations' energy security?

Much has been written about US businesses going abroad for cheap labor but we hear less about Chinese businesses coming to the US for our cheap energy.
