Internet Explorer Cannot Display this Webpage................

Post by along-for-the-ride »

There seems to be a problem entering some of the larger, older but active threads. I've noticed this for the last week or so. Is this a glitch or a new regulation?

Is anyone else having this problem?

If you give a web address for one which is glitching on you we can maul it for a while and see.

There does seem to be a intermittent re-direct issue with some pages.

It has been suggested that this problem may have been caused because of a mass deletion of one member's posts throughout the site, could have caused a glitch. But, of course I could be wrong, although it is rather coincidental.

It has affected me and I am on Mozilla Firefox

I've tried, I can't make it trip up. I can imagine circumstances in which Internet Explorer "Cannot Display this Webpage" due to timeouts on a thread that size but I've not seen the FG server display that sort of hesitancy. It's not impossible that different connect routes and types would precipitate the condition.

IE has a pretty vague error message. On Chrome I see:

This webpage has a redirect loop.

The webpage at http://www.forumgarden.com/forums/showt ... 2&page=106 has resulted in too many redirects. Clearing your cookies for this site or allowing third-party cookies may fix the problem. If not, it is possibly a server configuration issue and not a problem with your computer.

Which means... it's telling the browser to redirect to the same page, over and over.

Firefox is showing :-

The page isn't redirecting properly

Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.

Hopefully, everything is working fine. I repaired tables last night...and saw that we were still having issues. A rebuild of the threads seems to have done the trick.

We in the technical department are all too well aware of it. The system is running slowly and Internet Explorer displays that message when it times out on a page. The system will be repaired. The message will then stop appearing.

eta: that perhaps came over harshly, for which I apologize. Yes the server is currently causing Internet Explorer timeouts, We do have measures in mind which will permanently stop this from recurring and we'll make excited noises at the appropriate moment. Until then it will crop up, as rarely as we can hold it to.

If it happens again you need to squeal, it's meant to be mended now.
