There seems to be a very diluted concept of species these days. When I was a lad it was anything female I couldn't produce reproducing offspring with. I wonder what word means that now? And I wonder what "species" is meant to imply?

That was my take.

Species were defined by whether they could interbreed, or not.

That would make Homo Neanderthalus and Homo Sapiens subspecies rather than separate species within the Genus Homo.



More correctly, Homo Sapiens Sapiens, and Homo Sapiens Neanderthalus?

THAT should scramble the philosophies, a bit.

Curious to see the gene analysis of the American aboriginals. How close are they to the Han?

These beings were simply different breeds of humans and yes they interbred with one another where they met. Why all the fuss?

It was my understanding that the Cro-Magnons wiped out the Neanderthals by killing them off and interbreeding with their females, so I guess this makes sense.
