hhhmmmmm Valentines day.

Was at the pub last night having tea when I saw a woman I've known for awhile and I said hello and how she doing ....etc etc. And whilst in this discussion her hubby mentions valantines day and their anniversary.....(same day apparently) ...But she doesn't say a word.

He walks off and I continue speaking to her and she is almost tearing up and I ask what's wrong and she said....." What would you do if your husband was taking you out to a movie and dinner for valantines day " ...Okay I had to be funny ...." I'd be horrified , but only because I just got rid of him " lol lol lol lol But I was confused because I'm thinking 'What's the problem'.

Turns out he's taking her to the pictures to see 'The Fighter' . A two hour long film about a boxer....then he was taking her out to a pub for a counter tea.

So I sit there ..."oh" i say. ummmmm .......The fighter? Really?

But this is what got to me more .....And I think I understand . Get this ..."And the boxer will probably have sex with some young girl and I'll have to watch it and then go home with somone who'll fall asleep because he would have had 8 beers by then."

I looked at her hubby and thought ..."yep I reckon that's gunna happen too" .....poor thing . I asked her if she'd told him and she said .."What's the point?"

That's so sad . And it will be their tenth wedding anniversary as well......something tells me it's all down hill from here.

That's one of the reasons my wife the Kiwi and her best friend from Melborne married Yanks. :wah:

Expectations and perspectives.

She will not be alone on Valentines day. She will be with someone who loves her. Her husband is still alive and kicking. She's still alive and kicking.

On another day, a relaxed day, she should sit down with her husband and tell him what she would enjoy doing.....with him.

A guy was just telling me yesterday how he bought his wife diamond earrings for Valentine's Day. He gave them to her early. Her reaction was, "You know I don't like silver". I don't get people. Be grateful he thought enough of you to buy you something is my thought.

Hmmm I see.

May I make a point that these two aren't struggling he could actually afford a decent restaraunt.

AFTR.....at the beginning of the conversation I thought the same. You know, at least she's having a valentines day ...I'm not . But it is also their anniversary. Isn't ten years special??

and I have to admit Taking your wife to see a boxing film on your valentines /wedding anniversary is a little bit fatalistic to me. Now if She'd suggested it as a gift to him I'd understand.

How were the previous 9 Anniverseries/Valentines Days celebrated? I wonder.
