hello as the lights burn brightly here at grumpy towers i apologise for disapearing for a while but im back and ranting as usual.
yes its that time of year again when the cadgeing brigade will be out in force people doing silly things and bygone stars are dusted off and shoved in front of the cameras for red nose day.
yes tommorow my friends they,ll be out rattling the buckets urging you to give genorously and showing the same starving african children covered in flies as you saw last year to urge you to open your hearts and your wallets.
but in these cash strapped times increased vat petrol rising food costs rising mass unemployment with most british jobs taken by foreign nationals working longer hours for less money can we really afford to chuck that pound coin in to the bucket for some starving african child ?
i dont think this year that the british public will be able to dig so deep as cash strapped brits hang on to what bit of money they have i dont think rnd 2011 will be the sucess it was a few years ago when sir scruffy never been near a barbers geldof and co belted out feed the world (well we,ve got most of em here in the uk ED )
personally i think as the belt tightens and the government turns the economic screws charities like rnd and the many other charities vying for our money will see donations fall as charity begins at home.
as for the grumps it,ll be sky tv or a early night with a cup of cocoa.

So keep your hands and money in your pocket if you don't feel as though you want to help a starving child. Choice is with us all. Those that want to, will give. Simple.
You could always do a sponsored silence. I'm sure yer neighbours would give generously....and often

Oh! Red Nose Day! I got there in the end but I had to use google to get there. Is it the deaf he's haroping on about, I wondered? Lifeboats? Red noses - something to do with the TV apparently. Like lottery tickets without the lottery bit.

Not even were you to offer me money, snooze. Panto Andy uses language the way unbelievers would use a bottle of whiskey ten minutes into the Apocalypse.

It's a charity event.

What he's saying is, tomorrow is red nose day. People will be trying to raise money for people less fortunate than themselves having fun while doing so. Do they really think in the present economic climate anyone has any spare cash for some starving african kid? I don't think so and most of them have now emigrated here anyway.
Personally I believe donations for this kind of thing will fall as charity begins at home.
I'm a miserable sod and I'll be avoiding watching any of it on the BBC and will instead help rupert murdoch by subscribing to sky TV - as we all know millionaires are having a particularly hard time of it just now so I would rather pay him than watch the licence fee supported tv channel showing a charity event. He is now getting to take over sky news thanks to his cronies in the tory party so we can look forward to some decent right wing propoganda in our news instead of that objective nonsense we currently get.
It's a charity event.
