The Absence of Looting

It's nice to see that Japanese Society unlike many others (U.S. & Haiti for example) does not engage in looting and civil disobedience following earthquakes and other natural disasters. It's just not a part of their culture. The're willingness to share and help one another during this difficult time is admirable.

Very much so they are to be admired.

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, champagne in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming.

I heard something that doesn't quite jive with this. Apparently truck drivers in the south are refusing to go to certain places in the north, places in bad need of their services. While the Japanese are very high on the scale of civilized behavior we can't forget that just underneath lurks the animal.

I do think that Americans would not be so well behaved that's for sure.

Don't you think that animal lurks beneath everyone or is it just the Japanese?

Admirable indeed.

Glenn Beck tried to show how Japan's reaction to the earthquake & tsunami somehow parallelled the rally he organized in Washington. It was a little funny & a little sickening to watch his contortions of logic and fact.

Lon, I believe that we give ourselves a lot of credit where it's not deserved in this realm. We're all animals, in some ways worse than animals. The Japanese do seem to be better at living together than some but..............

I expressly forbid the use of any of my posts anywhere outside of FG (with the exception of the incredibly witty 'get a room already' )posted recently.

I suppose there had to be one somewhere. When that plate under california goes I dare say those televangelists will feel really smug, the uS soddam and gomorrah. Europe isn't in an earthquake zone - Does that mean we are particularly blessed.

Some people might say that your comment is racist.
