Faded Photos

Post by jones jones »

Being a lover of history and a writer/poet of sorts, I am continually searching and doing research. I love doing research so I never read anything without having a notebook or at least a sheet of paper and a pen beside me. Whenever I come across anything interesting I make notes and as soon as I have the time I call on our old friend Mr. Google!

Was reading a book by Graham Hancock recently about the Chamber of Secrets which is alleged to be beneath the Sphinx, when I came across an interesting albeit gruesome reference to a lady named Hypathia.

Apparently she lived in Alexandria Egypt about AD 415 and was a beautiful mathematician. She was stalked by Nistrian monks and then one day was dragged from her chariot and taken to their church. Here she was stripped naked before having her flesh scraped off her bones with broken Abalone shells! Her crime? Being a mathematician which the church equated with "paganism."

Wow ... How sick was that?

I love nothing better than to look at old black & white (and often yellowish) photographs. Because I also believe in reincarnation, I get such a rush of déjà vu whenever I see a photo from the 1920's & 1939's and more especially if it is of any of the silent movie stars of the day. My pc and my Photobucket account and packed with these images. Give me a big box of old black & white photos to look thru any day!
