I don't like it.
I don't know when they changed it as I don't use it often but I'm deeply disturbed and for the moment I'm blaming messenger.

MSN can be accessed with various alternative viewscreens. I used to get to it through Trillian, that was tidy and unobtrusive. These days I use Pidgin. Neither puts anything on the screen that's not actually necessary. Neither takes much of the screen. They're quiet, well-behaved and carry no advertising whatsoever, unlike their shrill Microsoft counterpart.

As it turns out there's a button to switch to "compact view" and it returned to what it should have looked like. It's one of those things that updates itself and puts on new clothing every time I look at it.
