This morning I received a phone call from a Credit Card Security Person re: my credit card. There was a one dollar charge that was keyed in this morning in the state of Oregon. Security went on to say that this is done as a test to see if it goes through and if so, further charges would be made. I really appreciate them being on the ball and catching this. I made no such charge this morning. The CC company is Fed Xing me a new card which I will receive tomorrow. I only have one credit card with a very high limit and use it for everything so I am happy that they are able to replace so quickly. All in all I am very impressed with the speed and efficiency of the company. In all the years I have been using credit cards this is a first for me. I am curious how the person in Oregon got the CC account number, although I guess I shouldn't be, as I give it out quite a bit on the phone and online for various purchases. I would have caught this thing myself since I check my account daily via the net.

Knock on wood so far I'm good but like you I have 2 CC cards and check them 2 times a day online I would spot strange charges as well.

I used to have a card for a major gas company. There were no stations in my immediate area, so I only used it on road trips.
I could almost count on a few days on the road the card would suddenly not be accepted, and I would have to call them up to find out that they had "detected a potential security issue" and tried calling my home number to find out if I still had my card. Since I didn't answer the phone, they left a message. second time with no answer, they suspend the card.
They had my cell phone, but for some reason, policy required they call the home phone.
I did appreciate that they were trying to maintain security, but it was kind of annoying.

Last three Christmas shopping trips, by the 4th store I am asked for identification and they have to call somewhere. That tells me I am moving to fast...lol

One card in particular has rather tight security. If I use it in more than one state on the same day, they do a security lockout until I talk to them. Luckily, I have my "home phone" routed to my cell phone, so I can get the call. When my late wife and I would both use the card in two different states at about the same time, the card would be immediately locked down.
