I guess the mob managed to burn one of the churches custodians alive and somebodies mob beat an army officer who came to get the situation under control senseless. He barely escaped with his life. I think the former expression of religious love and tolerance was done by Muslims and the latter by Coptic Christians. This love fest has been going on forever between these 2 groups of people, Mubarrak and company could barely control it and I think this new government will have it worse.

What are you going to do? I see now why religious institutions were not supported in the USSR, they're nothing but trouble. If I were in charge there I'd send in the army, there would be no places of worship allowed and certainly no public assemblies concerning it. If these morons can't behave then they don't deserve the privilege to practice.

Here's a sign, placard or news headline that you will never see "SECULAR HUMANISTS ATTACK AND KILL GROUP OF CHRISTIANS-JEWS AND MUSLIMS"

"one Christian who held a large wooden cross in one hand while flinging rocks with another."

Well, the Bible does say something about "He who is without sin should cast the first stone." I think these guys a bit mixed up about the message, though.

But "Aetheists try to stop people from worshipping their own God!" is seen pretty regularly.

I've never seen that one. I've seen the ones about trying to stop religious groups from taking over the public schools and mandating prayer, but that's different.

They do it in a non violent way and there is no known historical evidence of ORGANIZED atheist groups committing violent activities, unlike many ORGANIZED religious groups.

Yeah, facts matter here too. We try not to agree with something said simply because we'd like it to be true. Obviously the poster can't back up what he's said.

Here's another example of what's wrong with religion.

Carl sagan has got to have one f the most mind numbingly boring voices I have ever heard. I've never managed to listen to any of his videos to the end.

Imagine there's no heaven, it's easy if you try

No hell below us, above it's only sky

Imagine all the people

Living for today

Imagine there's no countries, it isn't hard to do

No need to kill or die for and no religions too

Imagine all the people

Living life in peace

But then people would have to become responsible for their own thoughts and actions and would no longer be able to discriminate, hate or kill in the name of their God.

It is far too easy to follow a religion, it allows others to think for you and people can justify their actions by referring back to their religion's beliefs.

You should read about what the Spanish did to the peoples of the New World, all in the name of god. Simply bestial and maybe that's an understatement.

It's funny all the peace movement in the sixties and seventies might never have been and the two great religions are at each other's throats yet again. Religion is a cancer looks like the remission period is over.
