I'm Back
I had to return early from Res school as my 18 yr old got him self into trouble while I was gone. I was woken up by a phone call telling me that the police had picked him up and had taken him to hospital where they were going to commit him to the psychiatric hospital 200km away, from our home.
I was totally shocked as I had left behind a perfectly sane 18 yr old that had just graduated from school last week. Him and his four friend had completly cleaned out my very well stocked bar and consumed it, the police picked him up down the street and brought him home in the back of the paddy wagon, they asked my daughter if she wanted them to bring him in and put him to bed. In the mean time he started shouting I'll kill my self if you don't let me out, so then they had to take him to hospital , Thats when I got the call saying he was going to be commited. I felt like throwing up, and drove back 400km in the early hours of the morning to get home.
I was so angry I wanted to kill him my self, the Dr then turned up and said he didn't belive he was a danger to him self and was just totally drunk. I still can't belive he did that as he is usually pretty well behaved.
Anyway that's my drama for the week, good to be back in the Garden.
PS. He's paying for all the drinks in my bar to be replaced, and next time I leave him I will lock it all in the fridge with a chain and padlock

Wow you sure have had a few crazy days there OS. I know that a lot of teenagers get carried away with drink, and if you say he is normally behaved, then I'm sure that this is nothing to be too alarmed at.
Anyway I'm glad everything turned out fine, and it's good to have you back here!! :-6

Your right about both things. I think he had been drinking since his graduation party two days before, he said he doesn't ever want to get drunk again.

Yes he's back to normal now, I have had to drop the unit that I was at Res school for as I couldn't complete it, he feels terrible about that. I'll just have more time to paint the house now I suppose.

I study Psychology externally through a uni that is 400kms away, external student do all the reading at home and a lot of online stuff but have to go up for a 3- 4 days per unit for intense lecture sessions that run from 9:00 am to 5:30 for the three or four days. It's a great time as you get to see all your old friends again that are doing the same degree externally.

I love it, you learn so much about yourself and also you get a better understanding of people and why they do the things they do sometimes.

That's good I'm pleased to hear your enjoying it. My brother is considering taking it at uni, so I'll have to tell him that the course is recommended.

Glad to have you back here and posting. Sorry you didn't get to finish though. I'm sure the hangover was pure hell for him if that helps. LOL:-3

I had wondered where you'd gotten to!!
Sorry to hear about you're son. But I wouldn't be too concerned - he's just finished school and is letting his hair down. We all get up to a bit of mischief at that point in our lives, and when there's a few of you, and you've all finished school, well everything seems like a good idea!! I'm sure making him replenish your bar will hurt him a bit, so that should teach him a bit of a lesson!
Great to see you around here again. How'd you go at res school anyway?

Well he had no hangover, He is lucky he's not dead. 6 bottles of Shnapps, half a bottlel of Bourban, half a bottle of vodka, a bottel of port and a bottel of red wine.
And an empty marijuana bag, so the police couldn't book him for the marijuana, and he is 18 so can drink.
Res school was great but because I couldn't finish it I had to drop the unit as it's a compulsary part. I will do it again next year.

If I had mixed all that, I'd have wished to be dead! Just thinking of it makes me want to puke! LOL

Hi OS, I hate to be a "whistle-blower" but have you told the parents of the other boys involved just what happened? Maybe they already know. But if you are not sure, you really should let them know. There is nothing sadder than the funeral of a teen who was out of control and the parents standing around shaking their heads saying, "I never even knew he drank".......I believe as parents, it is our duty to stay involved and not look the other way on this. Many parents fear their own child would never forgive them or would be embaressed, but it could save a life! My neighbor recently let her daughter (age 14) have a slumber party where boys proceeded to show up w/ alcohol. The girls snuck outside. By the time the mother figured this out, one of the girls was throwing up drunk. The next day when she called to tell me about it, I told her she needed to tell the girls parents and she gasped...."Oh Jen (her own daughter) would kill me!!" I couldn't believe she was simply letting Jen run "this show"..........how sad that those parents never knew....Another thing that happened ....when I was in high school, my family went on vacation and gave our housekey to a trusted classmate to take care of the plants/fish....well the classmate was simply too tempted and threw a big party! A neighbor called the police knowing we were out of town and all of the kids were thrown out and we were notified upon our arrival. I can remember being embaressed when my parents called the classmate and insisted she tell each name of everyone that had been there....and then when they called all those families!!! Soon everyone was assembled in our living room and my parents/the other parents/the kids all had a huge meeting to discuss what had happened and give apologies. My parents felt it was important to tell the other parents. Every parent there was so thankful and nice about it. The kids even got over it and years later as adults have laughed about it with my parents!!! I just think it was a good thing those parents knew. Sorry this is soo long, I just think it could save a life or two....it sounds as if this wasn't the first time your boy/his buddies had a wild binge. Are they of driving age? One of them could die next time.

Hi Orange,
Your son should somehow pay for your uni too, since you missed out. I recommend you get matching frames for his diploma and the police report for a nice display. Make it really heavy oak frames, so you'll have something to hit him with should he mess up again. :-6

Thanks for the advice, The other parents are aware of what happened, I would want some one to tell me if my child was in danger.
Good advice about belting him with the wooden frame ACC
