Let's Recruit Members for FG

Post by Lon »

We have all visited other forums and many of you participate in them as well as FG.

I personally like and enjoy the FG format and content better than most of the general forums that I have visited (other than those dealing with specific subjects).

I feel we could all benefit from the participation of new members with interesting things to discuss and that hopefully would join as paid members although not required to do so. I have no problem with our current owners of FG making $$$, frankly they deserve it.

I have emailed to several people that are not personal friends the FG website and suggested that it is a forum that they might like to participate in. Why not friends? Because I don't want to duplicate what can be done with personal friends via email, facebook etc. Let's get some new blood from different states in the U.S., different parts of the U.K. and Europe, Asia, Caribbean, So. America. What say you? Should we have a recruiting contest?

I do have some racing associates that were looking for a forum to discuss horse racing. I will be pointing them In this direction but have no desire to enter Into a competition. It smacks of facebook ramblings that seek only to see how popular they are.

Click like or re-post to your profile If you agree with me.

Wouldn't your friends be better advised to participate in a forum dealing specifically in horse racing? Are there that many FG members into horse racing? Isn't FG better with broader interests?

I would hate the idea of FG becoming anything like Facebook.

Yes, we do belong to racing forums but the format is strictly racing. There are no other topics to Indulge In should they wish.

But, you specifically said that your friends "were looking for a forum to discuss racing". So why FG?

The racing forums tend to be limited to the actual racing and betting tips but some also enjoy being In the paddock among the horses and sharing pics and news from the stables. I have not found a forum yet that caters for that.

We could visit Jock, visit the tigers at Wraxall, browse through little antique shops In the Cotswolds, go to the races at Bath, sip tea and eat scones In Gloucester but Bristol has no decent looking men, not unless we go after tourists.

How about enticing some old members back?

Just a suggestion? Clancy, Lady Cop, Pantsonfire, Frank, Jester etc etc.

I don't know..when you think about how popular all the freakish reality shows are at the moment, we may just be the new wave in online action.
I expressly forbid the use of any of my posts anywhere outside of FG (with the exception of the incredibly witty 'get a room already' )posted recently.

Folks who'd like to copy my intellectual work should expect to pay me for it.:-6
