Looking for audio books.

Post by flopstock »

The heat is letting off here and I'm ready to start walking in the evenings again. I get tired of the same old music, so a friend at work recommended downloading audio books.

She gave me one site to try, but I'm open to cheaper.

Any suggestions? Sites you've actually used please, so that I know I'm not being taken advantage of.:p
I expressly forbid the use of any of my posts anywhere outside of FG (with the exception of the incredibly witty 'get a room already' )posted recently.

Folks who'd like to copy my intellectual work should expect to pay me for it.:-6

I've never seen any cheaper than $20. I'd be interested in knowing where to find some inexpensive ones as well.

Our public library has a considerable collection of audio books, now.

Also, check your local truckstop. Truckers are big customers of audio books.

The one I used to stop at near Joplin, Mo even had an exchange rack where you could drop off ones you have read, and pick up others.

Where does "cheaper" come into it?

I've listened to several books from Librivox. Some are well read, some are comedically bad but they're all free.

LibriVox » Northanger Abbey, by Jane Austen for example

eta: this one I've not listened to myself but someone give it a try. Who knows, it might be just right. http://librivox.org/the-book-of-dragons-by-e-nesbit/
