WOW----What A Machine

Post by Lon »

I have always used a Laptop in addition to my PC and when the laptop died and went to Laptop Heaven I purchased a I Pad II. I am blown away ---- this incredible machine will serve my particular needs very well. In many respects this machine is superior to my PC.

Any other I Pad afficionados on FG?

There are, I would imagine, several posters who would enjoy exploring one. I'm hesitant about the notion of Apps and that one can't add programs from any source other than an Apple Store but that's quite likely down to me misunderstanding the language.

I've seen Itunes. On a PC running Microsoft Windows or on an Apple Mac it's a program. On an iPad "The iTunes app is included". The implication, to me, is that on a PC or Mac I can choose a competitor's entertainment console - is that what iTunes is? - but on an iPad I'm locked in to Apple's shortlisted range of alternatives. On a PC, for example, I'd far prefer to run Amarok which will run on a PC or Mac but definitely not on an iPad. I'd prefer that because Amarok isn't so pushy regarding sales and it's less focused on Digital Rights Management.
