Where have all the toffees gone?

Post by theia »

What's happened to Callard and Bowser, and Bluebird? All I can buy are supermarket brand assorted toffees, which are a bit of a flavour lottery...one mix has treacle but no banana, another has liquorice, which taste nothing like those liquorice toffee rolls that were wrapped in blue and silver paper...and what on earth is orange toffee?

Granted, I've abstained from toffee eating for a number of years, but now I'm back with a passion and all the toffee shops have closed :-1

Keynsham lost the Frys factory despite cast-iron promises to keep it running and Callard & Bowser is now reduced to a mention on Altoids, whatever an Altoid might be. It's definitely not a butterscotch or liquorice toffee though.

It's wrong, wrong, wrong!

I've got the ward hooked on toffees too...Callard and Bowser could have made a fortune from us all.

Now I've got that song "Where Have All The Flowers Gone" stuck in my head. Thanks a lot, Theia.

Snooze, thank your lucky stars it wasn't The Helston Floral Dance, which some kind soul at work kept humming away to herself. That one never goes away.

Okay I know it's a serious thread but I can't help myself ...everytime I see the thread name I start singing and swaying.

'Where have all the toffees gone?

Long time passing

Where have all the flowers gone?

Long time ago

Where have all the flowers gone?

Girls have picked them every one

When will they ever learn?

When will they ever learn?

Hey I never said I was normal now did I?

I must admit, my reaction to the title is always "Everton" but then, someone must have minted a new title to Fuzzy's song.
