My congratulations to Fauja Singh, an inspiration to those of us struggling on behind him.A 100-year-old Briton has become the world's oldest marathon runner after finishing a race in Canada. Fauja Singh, from Ilford, east London, ran the Toronto Waterfront Marathon in eight hours, 25 minutes and 16 seconds.
[...] Born in India in 1911, Mr Singh was a farmer in the Punjab but moved to Britain in the 1960s. He puts his stamina down to ginger curry, tea and "being happy".
[...] Mr Singh said: "The secret to a long and healthy life is to be stress-free. Be grateful for everything you have, stay away from people who are negative, stay smiling and keep running."

Fauja Singh's translator and coach Harmandar Singh: ''Running has given him a new focus in life''

He's lived in England for 50 years and he hasn't learned English?

Pretty incredible. It was headline news here. I set my goals much lower. If I run across a street to catch a bus it's usually unplanned and instantly regretted.
All hail Fauja Singh

I know a Pole who moved to England in the late 1940s and hasn't learned English. Most expat Brits in Spain haven't learnt Spanish (though those in France have generally learned French). It used to be commonplace among first generation immigrants.

That seems kind of amazing to me, I would think it would just be absorbed after that long. Apparently he doesn't watch TV, listen to the radio or try to mingle with English-only speakers.
All hail Fauja Singh

That's certainly the case as far the Pole I mentioned is concerned.
