Perceptions of Criminality....
We have had a few threads here recently of criminality and the argument between rehabilitation or string them up.
We all have opinions and we are all entitled to those opinions.
We have discussed criminal acts Inflicted on humans so what would you suggest for the bastard who did this?
All opinions appreciated.

I am not able to print what I would have done to such a bastard.
I would have the same capital punishment for those bastards as for the ones who harm children.

I am pleased to hear two responses close to my own heart.
To me, anyone who harms defenceless animals or children who can not fight back Is capable of going on to do worse and why I feel they should be punished In the extreme.
Anyone who can do this to a young dog has no emotion, no compassion.

What an odd point of view. Ban the chap for life from owning an animal and put down the dog. Solved.

Firstly, because it's a dog, oscar. Because it's a pet animal in a world where pet genes encroach on the ability of wild genes to survive.
Secondly, because it's not cost effective to put it back together physically or to adjust its brain back to whatever equates in pet dogs to equable contentment. It's cheaper, if you want a pet dog like that, to buy a replacement or commission one from scratch, not that I'd recommend either course.

What a sterile, compassionless world we would live In should It be filled with article's such as you?
For other members reading this thread, Thanks to those In this world who do have compassion, this little fella was nursed back to health and re-homed with new owners.

I wanted ???? Gosh, do your self imposed powers now run to telepathy?
The question I asked In my OP was, what suggestions would members have for the penalty for the person who did this. Lars Marc and Lon had no trouble at deducing what I meant so why Is everything so painstakingly difficult for you? Even Odie would have got that one !!!I was talking In the Judicial sense... Yet, off you go again like a demented Gerbil trapped In It's wheel reading between the lines and second guessing.
There-In John Spotty derails another thread.

I don't know why you bothered to write such a brazen lie when the OP's on the same page. You wrote "what would you suggest for the bastard who did this". You wanted abuse thrown at the two guys who caused the injuries.
The two guys say they drove the van to which the dog was tied not knowing, or not recalling, the dog was tied to the van - I don't know which. They've not yet been tried, no evidence to the contrary has been heard in court, they may be found innocent of abuse. When the trial's over I'll inform the thread of the result. For the time being, can we stop assuming the act was deliberate please?
It's a sterile, compassionless world we would live in when threads like this about an injured pet dog can distract attention from the 46 million US residents taking food stamps, or the official count of 6,546 homeless people living rough on the streets of just Washington DC. An official count of rough sleepers across the whole US is long overdue.

In Spot's defense, not that he needs or wants it. This thread is a Prime Example of not having laid out all the facts and coming to a judgement without having all the facts. I PLEAD GUILTY. I was under the impression that the dog was deliberately mistreated and now find out that this may not be the case. My whipping suggestion stands if the pair is guilty.

Pet dogs are capable of breeding their human-modified pet genes into the wild dog genetic pool which is far smaller to start with. The real proper dog - called these days a wolf - will no longer exist if that wild gene pool gets polluted. It's already happened with the European wildcat except for shockingly small populations in Spain and Norway, both of which are pretty well guaranteed to succumb to genetic pollution in the near future. I place more value on those wild genetic pools than on the pet variations. Some, no doubt, would disagree with my valuation, but the fact that the wild pools are endangered by the pets is true either way.

I can think of several things fit for the individual who did that. I guess after Lon was finished I'd have him given a lifetime tour of Siberia, and I'd ensure he had a long, miserable life.
Firstly, because it's a dog, oscar. Because it's a pet animal in a world where pet genes encroach on the ability of wild genes to survive.
Mother nature has a way of setting things right regardless of the meddling of men.
As for putting the poor pup down, sadly it may be best. Otherwise there may be someone out there who can heal those wounds we can't see. I'm torn.

Right here we go.....................
I steer well clear of threads such as these.
Why ? I hear you ask.
Because my first reaction is that firstly I am not an animal lover, I am however compassionate to the feelings of my fellow humans and their relationship with animals.
My immediate response would be to end the animals life to end it's suffering, I personally don't rate it's life very highly, but would feel the need to intervene humanely. I believe treating this animal extends its suffering, so by my reasoning I am being humane.
Without knowing the background of the injured dog, I wouldn't at first assume it had been deliberately hurt, but my thoughts concerning anyone hurting an animal in such a way would not be good, I would consider them ill, and condemn the act harshly.
Amongst the many things that elevate man from the animals is empathy, the fact that we can consider other fellow human beings thoughts and feelings and act or not act with consideration for them.
That is why I don't involve myself in such threads.
I see my response as logical expedient and humane.......both the ending the animals life and the reluctance to make my thoughts known to my fellow posters.
I would commend this course of action for the Spot meister.

Thank You Bruv.... An honest, decent post.
Just before I took Spotty on Ignore... I read the drivel written about 'designer Dogs' leading to the near extinction of Wolves and other wild dogs. He must make It up as he goes along.
This Is Yellowstone Park, just one area, one example. Wolves decrease In numbers due to lack of food, In Territory fighting and disease.
Yellowstone National Park - Yellowstone Wolf Numbers Decline (U.S. National Park Service)
These Wild Dogs are hardly going to decline In numbers thanks to an over-population of designer dogs.

There are no chances of passing Poodles thinning out the gene pool here.

I'm not convinced the medics are as competent as you suggest. What gene would prevent a person from breeding (maybe by dying before puberty, for example), which medical intervention has disempowered? Nothing springs to my mind though I'd be pleased to be shown what would qualify.
I did wonder about short sightedness but I've a feeling that's down to childhood environment and not bad-eye-genes. Revert the environment to one suited to optimal eyesight and the species will go back to vision as the great designer[1] intended it to be.

I am not sure the history of the animal is relevant.
If someone did that to a dog, or a cat, or any other creature, they should be horse-whipped.

People do worse than that to other road users daily when they have car crashes. Should they all be horse-whipped, or should culpability be considered first?

If someone did that to a dog, or a cat, or any other creature, they should be horse-whipped.What good does that do? If it's true that, in most cases, people whom abuse had been abused themselves, why would abusing them again seem to correct the problem?
To think that a human being would submit as a horse does to a whipping I think is folly. Horses don't have the luxury of free will, people do, so the human, as did in the past, would most likely just abuse again, this time probably worse than the last.
We've robbed animals of their inherent right to exist as natural beings by designing them for our own selfish pleasures.

I don't really by that abuse line.
I knew several guys who were mean just out of the shear joy of causing pain. And they were NOT abused.
And you may be right. If they are just going to abuse more critters, perhaps we should just put them out of our misery.

THAT makes a lot of sense.
Sure we can exact revenge for abuse of the helpless by beating other helpless beings. Great idea.
So I beat by Chihuahua to death to exact revenge for what happened to that pup in the OP.
Thanks, I fell much better now.

You chose the dog, oscar. You can't blame me that it was an American dog, injured in America by Americans. Neither, I think, can you reasonably cover that up.

Animal abuse In England Is just as common as any other country. That Is not the Issue here. The Issue I have Is your ability to derail threads and hone In on anything American.

I would note that, had I not looked it up, the fact that it was an American dog, injured in America by Americans, would have been kept from the thread despite your claiming to know it to be true. I'd call that biased partial disclosure.

It didn't matter where it happened. You took an abused dog thread and try to turn it into an America needs to count there homeless thread. Same as the Ireland thread about the abused prisoner. Same as a lot of threads. It just gets tedious.

Don't you think it's possible Spot's comments mean that with all the problems in America concerning humans, why spend your time and energy focusing on dogs and cats? I think it's a valid question. Spot chose to say America because the thread is about an incident which took place in America.

Biased partial disclosure? Oh Perrrleeeeeze... grow up you silly person.
The picture was posted with no background Information because none was needed.
As Wisey said, what the heck has an avbused dog got to do with the US homeless? You are floundering.
Bruv posted a vid of a Judge beating his daughter. I posted a pic of a kid In a shopping cart next to a model alien. I also posted a pic of an abused dog. The origins were not the Intent of the threads as well you know. They were posted for members to comment on the content... how you equate that to the US homeless beggers belief.
It seems your sole desire of being here Is to slight the US at any turn you find and It is most offensive... maybe even racist. You derail threads when and where you wish then have the audacity to whine when someone else does It. And you want to leave this crap for your future generations to read??? Looking back, I was simply reacting to your "sterile, compassionless world we would live In" bit, and drawing a comparison between a genuine large-scale sterile lack of compassion and your trivial one about a pet dog. The fact that both occurred in the same country was relevant.
